Donald Trump's type of voter found in big numbers in Pennsylvania

A lifelong Democrat, Ed Toth describes himself politically as an independent.

The 60-year-old health-food store owner voted twice for Barack Obama, but he also voted in 1984 for Ronald Reagan.

This year, fed up with both parties, the North Whitehall Township resident is all in for Donald Trump, switching his registration from Democrat to Republican so he could vote in the primary.

"He's been successful," Toth said. "He says he wants to make America great again. I'm all for that."

If Trump is the Republican nominee, he could benefit in Pennsylvania from a sizable contingent of independent-minded, white, working-class voters.

The catch? In recent years, fewer of those voters have consistently shown up at the polls, making it difficult to predict their impact in November's general election. So far in the primaries and caucuses, they've been coming out for Trump, who has won 19.

These voters can be found in significant numbers in Midwestern and Rust Belt states, including Pennsylvania. Some, like Toth, are former Democrats who already have switched or plan to switch their registration to Republican.

Nearly 55,000 Pennsylvania voters switched registration from Democrat to Republican this year, about double the number of Republicans moving the opposite way. That's an uptick in what had been an ongoing trend of the state Republican Party's gaining former Democrats.

It’s different this time. People who I have never considered “political” are talking (favorably) about Trump.

Anecdotal, but the last demographic you’d think to be angry are 50 and up women. It’s jobs, its health insurance w/premiums that make it unusable, it’s electric bills (those closed Rust Belt coal fired electric generation stations closing) BUT MOSTLY it’s family. And they are pizzed. Big time. so many of our kids graduate college and have to find jobs in the South or out West. We/they are at the age that we are getting grandchildren and many only see those babies once or twice a year due to no jobs here and no expendable income to visit.

This time it’s become really personal.

And the Soros “agitators” might fly in Pittsburgh and Philthy...but not so the “T” (James Carville calls us Alabama). So please come to PA Mr Trump you’ll get a friendly reception here.

"Donald Trump's type of voter" - who's that? Pissed off citizens and taxpayers who are tired of illegal aliens bringing crime, while taking their jobs as fat cat politicians openly take bribes and look the other way?

This country is FULL of people who feel Trump is the one who could save this country from the eventual destruction pending should Hitlary or other liberals be elected.

Thanks Albion Wilde for the heads up
