Cruz, Rubio Camps Discuss Delegates
RealClearPolitics ^ | March 18, 2016 | Rebecca Berg

Posted on 03/21/2016 12:11:06 PM PDT by justlittleoleme

Top political aides to Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz connected Friday to discuss how delegates currently bound to Rubio might be allocated, a Cruz campaign aide confirmed to RealClearPolitics.

Although the conversation between Rubio’s former campaign manager, Terry Sullivan, and Cruz Campaign Manager Jeff Roe was brief and no resolution was reached, the development suggests the two former rivals could be moving toward detente if not an active collaboration.

-snip-

If Rubio does decide to endorse Cruz, the aide said, that decision would likely be reached between the two of them, not among senior aides.

“Marco and Ted are good friends, so the reality is, this wouldn’t be like how other endorsements have taken place,” said the aide to Cruz. “The way this will happen is Marco and Ted will talk, and both of them will let us know.”

Another line of communication opened Friday, however, when Sullivan and Roe spoke by phone to discuss the fate of Rubio’s delegates. They also talked about the state of the race more generally, but did not touch on the possibility of an endorsement from Rubio.

Asked whether an agreement has been reached between the two camps, Roe said no. “We have no agreement … and any suggestion to the contrary is false,” he said. “Maybe it will become true, but that certainly is not the case right now in any shape, fashion or form.”

I understand completely what you were trying to say.

I’m just mystified why Trump-bots are so excited over this obvious RINO in elephant’s clothing.

This notion that Cruz is GOPe because he will gladly accept their support is beyond ridiculous. Why is it so bad to accept votes and support? How exactly is Trump going to win in November without the votes of all the hated GOPe? They happen to make up a pretty large portion of the republican party. It’s the same as saying a milquetoast republican like Romney or McCain can win without conservative votes. Nope, not true.

The Trumpbots have it backwards.

Instead of asking, “Who are supporting the candidate?”, they should be asking, “Who did the candidate support?”

In Trump’s case, it was Charlie Schummer, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Mitch McConnell, and the Gang of Eight.

In all seriousness, I take the opposite tack than Vandy on this.

I always look at who’s opposing my candidate to know whether I’m on the right track.

Ted has been reviled by the Establishment for as long as he’s been in the Senate. The Donald has only been hated by the Establishment, since he became a threat to their existence, rather than being their benefactor.

It would make more sense if you just apologized for being a dope. I do agree with you though, the Donald is vomitous.

Rubio cannot order the delegates where to go. He can only express his wishes.

“This notion that Cruz is GOPe because he will gladly accept their support is beyond ridiculous.”

So basically it’s cool to get the support of these people as long as it goes to Cruz? That’s not a big shock. We’ve come to suspect that the moment the establishment gets behind Cruz to stop Trump, you guys would accept the sell-out as just no biggie, after bragging how much Cruz isnt one of them and “stood against them” blah blah blah.

“How exactly is Trump going to win in November without the votes of all the hated GOPe? “

By getting the support of those that aren’t. Any marginal Gopper willing to jump ship and vote with the majority isnt a problem, it’s when people like Cruz marries them because he needs their money and votes that it is clear that he is just their puppet.

Oh, am I to assume that they are not “hated” now?

“They happen to make up a pretty large portion of the republican party.”

No they dont. They make up a large portion of the snob elites that couldn’t care less about the plebs. The number of actual hard-core GOPe voters is tiny.

If Trump's and Cruz's position was reversed, Trump would've acted exactly as Cruz acted.

“Ted cant win them, so go team up with Gopes and RINOs and then still pretend like you aren’t anything but one of them”

Come on. Rubio’s delgates have to go somewhere, now don’t they? Maybe Trump shouldn’t have called Rubio “little Marco” so much, if he wanted any good will from Rubio.

Trump, on the other hand, will crucify Hillary because he won’t be “professional”...He’ll slam Hillary into tears...

Trump's only problem with slamming hillary as he should do, will he be seen as a bully against the "little woman"?

Maybe Donnie should have paid more money to his personal Establishment pals John McCain, Mitch McConnell, and Lindsey Graham.

My take: Trump is in trouble if he doesn’t win this outright.
