Ahead of resident Obama's historic visit, Castro's Cuba is more oppressive than ever.
An Afro-Cuban dissident who spent time in Fidel Castros gulags, Oscar Biscet is one of many people that represent the real Cuba, the people who will be hidden from sight as resident Obama visits this week. While the resident basks in the Cuban sun and in photo-ops with its heavy-handed dictator, the fate and freedom of political resisters like Biscet remains grim. Biscet is free now in technical terms, but in reality, he remains among a cohort of dissenters who still live in an invisible prison: a society still very much under the thumb of a totalitarian regime. And this week, Obama will provide that very regime with dangerously unwarranted legitimacy in the form of a diplomatic visit.
...
as countless organizations have attested, human rights abuses have only escalated, and Cuba is in violation of basic stipulations in its diplomatic agreement with the United States.
...
there were more than 8,000 political arrests in 2015, up by thousands from years prior
...
The residents decision to go anyway sends a message of favoritism for the strong at the expense of the weak. Dictators dream about friendly visits from heads of state... It provides an endless trove of propaganda material that helps lend legitimacy to the Castro regime, whose agenda of late consists of courting big corporations desperately needed to boost a failed experiment in socialism on the one hand, and bulldozing house churches on the other.
...
In agreeing to meet with Raul Castro, Obama rewards a regime that rules with brutal force and systemically violates human rights. He shrugs his shoulders at the little man. He shows a callous disregard for the human conscience, the single greatest threat to any ruler.

Barry O, one communist visiting another Communist...
Except that headline won’t see the light of day
MSM will accuse him of being a capitalist.
Our Marxlim Kenyanesian Usurper pays homage to his boyhood heroes.

An American president would not have gone until the Communist government was gone.

The ComPost publishing anti-Castro commentary? Ted Kennedy (D-HELL) is ice skating in his new home!
When I was a young man, I read Armando Valladares autobiography, “Against All Hope.”
It changed my life. It showed one man’s resistance to the oppression of an evil regime, in his belief in God and in the immutability of human freedom.
In a word, there is nothing just about Communism in the way it crushes the human soul and distorts the individual personality. To the core, its anti-human.
Shame on the President for embracing the dark regime of Cuba and its despots. History will not be kind to him.
I too read “Against All Hope” when I was young. How anyone could support that evil regime under any circumstances is beyond me, and if one of those dupes actually went to the trouble to discover the real Cuba by reading Valladares’ book and *still* sympathized with the Castro’s, that person would have to truly be a cold-hearted fiend.
I strongly recommend it to anyone on FR - one cannot really appreciate the horrors of Castroism (short of experiencing it) any more strongly.
0bama is building his legacy. He wants to be known as the one who normalized relations with Cuba. To do that, he is willing to give Castro anything that he wants, and to betray the USA.
The Castro regime is repressive and communist. Just what 0bama likes.
By the way, as you probably know, after the release of Valladares and his exile to the US, President Reagan appointed him our ambassador to the UN’s commission on human rights.
The contrast between Reagan and Obama could hardly be more stark than in the way they reacted to the inhuman behavior of the criminal enterprise of the Castro’s; Obama kissing their behinds, as he is wont to do with dictators; Reagan throwing their brutality back in their face by honoring a survivor.
Fixed it.
Evil and evil together. That should scare the world.
I don’t think it was a mistake at all. First, the Castrator didn’t even greet the resident at the airport. Did anybody even bother to send a cab?
Secondly, the resident lowered himself even more, to even meet the Castrator after being snubbed at the airport.
Really, I didn’t mind him being snubbed since turnabout is fair play. The resident didn’t bother going to Scalia’s funeral and he snubbed someone else recently also..so, what goes around comes around.
But, they’re worried about Trump’s impact on world leaders? I seriously doubt you will ever see Trump BOWING to any earthly king.
Third, the resident gets to view first hand the true results of socialism/communism..the very things that he and his ilk (clinton and sanders) want to promote here in the USA. The sad part is, it probably made the worst neighborhood in DC look like a palace in comparison.
Forth...the resident doesn’t get the kudo’s he imagined he’d get by going there. It was all sad and pathetic.
Between Cuba and Iran, I think part of Obama’s legacy will taking sanctions/embargos off the table as an alternative to war. He has shown that sooner or later a weak president will come around and we will back down.
Not that I think that’s such a terrible thing. All they do is hurt the people, who never seem to be willing to rise up against the leadership.
But I want the left to remember Obama as someone who took away one of the tools that can be used to avoid war.
Let’s not forget the pimping of ESPN for the squatter in chief with the telecast of the Tampa Bay vs Cuba baseball game. They act as if this is so incredible....BUT not one of their citizens can even afford a ticket to the game.
If it’s free, they have to drive their 1967 chevy to the game...or walk most likely.
Welcome to Cuba, Mr. Obama! We've thrown some more dissidents in jail just for you.
Should be required reading.
Should be.
0bama doesn’t make mistakes with this sort of thing. His destructive actions are deliberate.
