The two-month standoff between Oregon militia members and police came to a violent end in January, with the shooting of militia leader Robert “LaVoy” Finicum by Oregon state troopers. But now the Washington Post reports “new details have emerged” about the controversial conduct of FBI Hostage Rescue Team snipers.
The Post article portrays the current state of the investigation as considerably messier than readers casually following the story might have suspected. The FBI team has been accused of firing at Finicum’s truck, failing to report their shots as required, and actually taking steps to cover their tracks by collecting their spent shell casings: Last week, Deschutes County Sheriff Shane Nelson, who is overseeing the investigation, said he had concluded that “FBI HRT operators fired two shots as Mr. Finicum exited the truck, and one shot hit the truck.”
Nelson accused the agents of failing to “disclose their shots to our investigators.” The five FBI agents have denied firing assault rifles during the incident. But in a recently released interview, an Oregon State Police officer told investigators that he spotted two copper-colored rifle casings near the spot where the FBI agents were standing.
The Hostage Rescue Team has used copper- colored casings, former agents said; the Oregon state police use only silver-colored casings. The copper casings were never recovered.
Meanwhile, the Portland Oregonian reported Tuesday that FBI surveillance video taken after the shooting shows the agents searching the area with flashlights and huddling. One of them then bends over twice and appears to be picking up something. On Wednesday, a law enforcement official confirmed the video account.
If allegations of a coverup are determined to be true, the incident would be hugely embarrassing to the FBI and deal a devastating blow to the FBI team’s reputation.

The highest law enforcement authority is the 2nd amendment citizens militia. You cannot legislate or court adopt a higher authority. The FBI should have been bowing before the militia and asking them how they could help not murdering them.

While the initial video had no sound, and was decidedly grainy, note also that it had its brightness intensity reduced.
No one visible in the frame fired a shot if you looked for muzzle flashes, and even the two flashbangs were muted to the point they looked like firecrackers. Those 'disruptive devices' are designed to temporarily blind those who look at them with their brightness (hence the 'flash') and should have showed up quite a bit brighter, especially over snow.
Between the dimming of the video and the lack of sound, the situation could be presented as one where Finnicum reached for a weapon before the shots that killed him, instead of one where he reached instinctively toward the exit wounds from the bullets which had already hit him when his hands were up.
My guess is that Obama told the FBI to get it done.

His wife is an elected official for crying out loud. Can you imagine if a demoncrat elected official were to be targeted by a Republican administration?

“Hostage rescue” is a standard government euphemism that means the opposite of what most people think.
Kind of the “Affordable Care Act” or the “PATRIOT Act”.

Yet, in the REAL world, this would be called a CRIME (tampering with a crime scene, removing evidence, impeding the blah blah and any other rule/law-du-minute) to keep your @ss in jail for a L-O-N-G time
This operation was meant to send a message.
The message comes from the Liberals and was sent to Conservatives.
Here is the message.
“Stick to your Second Amendment all you want because your guns won’t prevent us from forcing our will upon you even if that means killing you.”
Now, I don’t believe that every law enforcement person there was determined to send that message.
But the Democrat leaders only needed one person on site to execute that message.
They had to have one person start firing.
Once one person starts firing, the law enforcement personnel will go into a self-protection mode.
Find the federal law enforcement person who started the shooting and see what the person’s orders were and who those orders came from and then trace it up the chain of command.
And with that goofy Oregon Governor, the order may have come through her to the state police.
I still want to know why the FBI and the local law enforcement units that were involved in thin Ambush didn’t release their dash cam video’s yet to prove that everything that was done was done legally and by the numbers.
Until that video is released there is little reason to believe the tale that the FBI and the Justice department are spewing out to the public.
Dash cam video is common place today as common as strobe lights on a cruiser.They have No excuse not to release it.
Dash cams tend to to malfunction when the govt could be deemed at fault.
This was just flat out murder. The video from inside the truck clearly shows they shot at him as they approached the roadblock. And the second he stepped out unarmed, they opened fire.
HRT is far too cross pollinated with military. This assault was nothing more than an Iraq style roadblock. Blatantly illegal for domestic law enforcement.

The communications released through a FOIA request shows that this goes clear to the top and Gov Kate Brown was in communication with the White House and Valerie Jarret.
It also shows that the FBI was intent on controlling the media and also the narrative. They were planning how to take care of “the problem” since Jan or possibly earlier.

“Operators”? I thought FBI types were “agents”. This is that silly military attitude again. Also note the use of the term “rules of engagement”? That is not a law enforcement term. Law enforcement rules on use of force are well codified in law and in the resulting court rulings. Rules of engagement is a military term reflecting that their rules can be adapted depending on national policy.
This was an FBI, HRT military attack, run like a roadblock in the middle east. Those agents (not operators) should be ashamed.

It seems neither the Deschutes County Sheriff nor Oregon State Police are going along with a cover-up, which is a positive development. George Zimmerman had to go into court for his actions to be judged, and I don’t see why the same should not apply to the LEOs who fired on LaVoy and to those LEOs who it appears have falsified evidence. When Trump becomes president I hope he grants pardons to the Bundys and Hammonds and all their supporters.
