Trump to huddle with influential Republicans in D.C.
WND ^ | 3/19/2016

Confab ahead of AIPAC speech meant to improve relationship with congressional GOP.

Donald Trump will host a group of nearly two dozen influential Republicans on Monday afternoon for an off-the-record gathering that his allies hope will improve his relationship with the congressional GOP and the party’s Washington establishment, according to two attendees.

The meeting is Trump’s first major meeting with lawmakers and key Republican figures since last fall, when he met with a smaller group at the Capitol after his speech at a protest against the Iranian nuclear agreement.

Several members of the House and Senate are expected to participate, plus a bevy of consultants and veteran power brokers, the attendees said, requesting anonymity to discuss the session.

When Cruz does it, it's bad. When Trump does it, it's good.

That's the code.

What you overlook is that making deals is the American way. Is now and always has been.

The very essence of American politics is developing, that is shaping legislation, that will pass. When you do not get your own way in every detail becomes in your mind selling out. The fact is there is not adequate conservative raw political power to prevail in every detail.

It is wise to remember that politics is the art of the possible. That which is possible will prevail, not because it is ideological but because it garners the pure raw power to pass. Case in point is Obamacare. It is ideologically a failure and will be replaced. It was not a deal. It was forced by raw power.

It is also simple minded to assume that the change, most any change, will occur overnight. The EO’s will be gone, but other change will likely take a while. On many issues even within the Republican majority there must be realistic meeting of some diverse minds before than can be change for the better.

I fret about the debt as well, but reducing the spending and creating a surplus is going to be a very, very difficult task.

Belittling Trump for being a businessman is foolish and has nothing whatsoever to do with governing in accord with the constitution. There are others here that are at root anti business and it follows anti Trump. That too is foolish. A keen understanding of both a profit and loss statement and a balance sheet will stand the chief executive in good sted. A lawyer who understands neither can not properly manage the treasury. The evidence is the man now serving as President. Another such lawyer but out of the conservative mold can do no better.

Do you think Donald is asking them for money in return for influence?

It’s also AIPAC, don’t you think the subject would be how to pull together influential friends of Israel? Wouldn’t that be a different crowd than Neil Bush, Romney, Graham, McCain, etc.?

Finally ... there is the big difference.
Cruz has from the beginning staffed his campaign with insiders. He has been given big money by insiders.

Yet you fail on two fronts
1) America is not founded as a business enterprise. Again, second time, it’s founded as a Constitutional Republic. Checks and balances. And, you seem to have more hope than realism. Trump may be a successful businessman. But that’s way different than being president
2) What “ deals” are going to be made? Even if, and that’s a big if, Trump wanted to stop the illegal invasion, will Congress agree? And what happens when they don’t? And let’s say Trump is serious about reducing the debt, which he hasn’t given any indication of he is, whose going to go along with the spending cuts necessary to do that? He has already indicated SS and Medicare are off the table. What deals is he going to make with Democrats? It’s clear they’ve dug their feet in on ObamaCare? What’s he going to do if Congress refuses to go along with one of these “ terrific deals?” You seem to be of the belief that not just the Democrats but many elected Republicans are willing to make deals with him. We’ve had several years of Republicans and Democrats making deals with each other and 19 trillion in debt later and seven years of a sluggish economy later hasn’t worked out well for the people

These are questions that need to be answered and are asked by those of who think logically and are not under Trump’s spell

One person (Cruz) is meeting and working with the GOP-e for the SOLE purpose of destroying the GOP frontrunner and likely nominee. I will repeat that. Cruz is meeting and working with the GOP-e for the SOLE purpose of destroying the GOP frontrunner and likely nominee.

No. Cruz is meeting to win.

Your "sad and pathetic" premise is wrong.

Nope............EVERYONE in the Senate doesn't care for Cruz. Left/right, everyone was blaming Trump for something he wasn't responsible for.

Really? Everyone in the Senate?

Try McCain, Graham, McConnell, Reid and all the other GOPe and Democrats. You and Trump are repeating their false talking point.

And then in your other post, you turn on a dime and claim that Cruz is GOPe.

Geez.

“Hope n Change” 2016 style. Lol

He’s already hinted at something’s being negotiable and about his great relationship with Schumer and Pelosi

CanuckTed has always been a Bush Establishmentarian and added his Goldman-Sachs partnership.

CanuckTed is THE insider.

Where’s his CRBA to prove he is eligible?

I’ve already schooled you bad once already over Trump , doing it again isn’t going to be a challenge but here’s Trump in his own words

http://therightscoop.com/trump-i-can-cut-deals-with-nancy-pelosi-and-chuck-schumer/

Now, without mentioning any other candidate, do you approve of a President Trump making deals with the likes of Pelosi, Reid, Shumer and if you do, tell us why that would be good for the country and the American people and what deals do you think the above mentioned will agree to?

Try to answer without mentioning another candidate

Oh sure.

The insiders hate Cruz, and they align more with Trump on the issues, such as universal healthcare, a legalization amnesty, maybe a citizenship amnesty, and a bunch of other things, but you think that Ted Cruz is The Insider.

Where’s his CRBA to prove he is eligible?

You should know by now that Cruz doesn't need a CRBA. That's Birthism 101.

Trump knows what he wants to do and has to do ...i’m sure he will be cordial and include them in talks, like any other Prez would, but I don’t think they are going to get their way with Trump ...Trump’s deals always seem to work out in his favor ...

You won’t have to worry too much longer , the GOPe is about to go scorched earth to defeat Trump and it will work ...they are running interference for the DIMs at this point ...our next Prez will be a DIM ...

For the record, you’ve never schooled me about anything , but I welcome shredding you in more debates

I believe it was a claim that Cruz was tied to Soros and when I provided evidence to show Trump was moreso and more directly tied, you cried and bitched about me attacking you.

Lots of “I’m sures” and “I thinks” with Trumpers. I find it interesting he picked the three worse Democrats that he’s willing to cut deals with. This isn’t just another business deal. And you still haven’t answered my question. Since he isn’t going to be another businessman anymore if he’s elected, he can’t buy influence with cash any longer. What’s he going to give them in exchange? Are you ok with him making deals with those three? Were is the evidence that those three are willing to roll over for him?

I remember all the same claims made in 2008 by BHO backers about his he will clean up DC. Their rationale was that because he was part of the Chicago political machine, he would know best how corrupt it would be and would fix it in DC, The real world didn’t work out quite that way
.

No. Cruz is meeting to win.

Your "sad and pathetic" premise is wrong.

You are proving my point. The only way he wins is if he coordinates with "Washington Cartel". Remember that evil group? Who came up with that name? Let's see...Oh! That was TED CRUZ! He pretends to hate them to fool YOU. That is his "schtick". Don't feel bad. I used to believe it, too. Now, I see it for what it is - a means to the end. He wanted to be President and decided this is the costume he would dress up in. It's not genuine. It's an act. Again, don't feel bad that you are still in denial. Many have seen the light and perhaps the scales will fall off your eyes as well at some point.

So he is fine working with Graham, Bush, Romney, or whoever. He will sell his soul to ANYONE, even the most evil, vile, radical leftists IF it will help him "win".

I don't think we are in any disagreement here at all. Thank you for agreeing that it is all about HIM "winning". That was my entire point. If he has to destroy the likely GOP nominee, the party and the country in his pursuit to "win", so be it.

But the people he thinks he is using, are really using him. They are using each other to destroy Trump, which Cruz thinks is his pathway to "winning", but the second Cruz has outlived his usefulness in that endeavor, the Washington Cartel will kick him to the curb. EXACTLY LIKE THEY DID TO KASICH.

I was responding specifically to the accusation from some Cruz supporters who said Trump’s contact with the establishment was no different than Cruz’s contact. I see that as a terribly dishonest argument and made my point. I said in my post that it was for those specifically that held that position. The point I made - Cruz is meeting to benefit himself while Trump is meeting to benefit the party and country - still stands. I guess you have no counter argument. Nobody else has offered one either. Again, I was responding to Cruz supporters’ accusations. If Cruz supporters don’t like to debate or discuss issues, then maybe they shouldn’t post opinions and then complain when they get a response.

You either have me confused with someone else or you are lying again ...I never “cried and bitched” about anyone attacking me ...that discussion was over two weeks ago , which in and of itself, is kind of strange to be inserting in this discussion ...you’re obsessed with me , i’m flattered

Regarding your point ...with the exception of BO and the current completely complicit Repub Congress , most Presidents have to make deals at times ... Trump would be a far more effective operator of the bully pulpit and would utilize it with great success ..
Do you truly think that there is another candidate out there that wouldn’t have to make deals at times ? We might not even hold Congress this cycle if this GOPe nonsense continues, so this might be mute point ... I’m not fully convinced that Trump will even win now, as it’s quite obvious that the GOPe is running scorched earth interference for the DIMs

The business of America is now and always has been business of one sort or another.

The founders founded the country as a Republic to allow liberty that would permit business

The government is of course not a business but the fiscal understanding of business is mandatory for success. The purpose of the constitution is in large measure to permit the free enjoyment of business and trade.

Your nitpicking misses the big picture. Trump is about making America Great again. You can nit paic till hell freezes over and in the process watch Amercia continue to dissolve
