Confab ahead of AIPAC speech meant to improve relationship with congressional GOP.

Donald Trump will host a group of nearly two dozen influential Republicans on Monday afternoon for an off-the-record gathering that his allies hope will improve his relationship with the congressional GOP and the party’s Washington establishment, according to two attendees.

The meeting is Trump’s first major meeting with lawmakers and key Republican figures since last fall, when he met with a smaller group at the Capitol after his speech at a protest against the Iranian nuclear agreement.

Several members of the House and Senate are expected to participate, plus a bevy of consultants and veteran power brokers, the attendees said, requesting anonymity to discuss the session.

Make friends with those who are on your side and get rid of the parasites we know are against you

In all his years in business, Trump knows how to deal with incorrigible slimeballs, so he should have no problems talking with the likes of McConnell, Cornyn and Ryan.

Perhaps, but to solve a problem, one must first define the problem

By listening carefully the problem can take on some definition and then the deal resolving it can be struck

——The Donald was probably asked to come to this meeting-—

When speaking of influential Republicans, it might be important not to forget that Donald Trump is an influential Republican

Amazing posts on this thread.

Personally, I am in favor of ALL the candidates -- and not just Trump and Cruz now, but all bazillion of them going back to last year -- meeting with ALL major party figures, congresspeople, governors, etc. on a routine basis. It is not a conspiracy when Republicans talk to each other. We should not be doing our communicating through shout shows.

Presenting facts only irritates them....Rule #1...if Trump does it is a genus move....If Ted does the same thing it is a treacherous move!!!

When Cruz does it, it’s bad. When Trump does it, it’s good.

I’ve noticed that’s the case with a lot of things when it comes to Trump amongst his unquestioning loyalists

erfect sense. Cruz gets elected senator, thus he’s an insider. If Trump gets elected, it’s because he’s not.

LOL.

Trumpers are walking talking contradictions

Cruz does this and gets bashed...
Trump does this and it is the “ art of the deal”...
I don’t get it.

I’ll explain.
Everything Trump does and says is wonderful and should never be questioned.

Many of us “Cruzers” will vote Trump if he’s the nominee. It’s (I’ve edited this spot several times) people like you who are making us question that decision. FR has become a nasty place that I don’t enjoy visiting anymore, and posts like this are the reason why. You’re not the only one, so this is not just directed at you.

Because of the animosity I no longer consider this site to be THE premiere conservative forum that it once was. That makes me sad. FR used to be such a positive entity in my life. I’ve bonded with people here. I’ve prayed for FReepers and they’ve prayed for me, no questions asked! FReepers have sent money to other FReepers in need. We all cried together when Johnny passed a few months ago.

See my tagline. I pray FR makes it through this silly season.

Quit pretending you know what treason means

You were included in a post to me and I responded to the FReeper. Feel free to agree or disagree with me. My response is #189. Peace be with you.

it will be Trump’s way or the highway ...

You do know that Trump is running for POTUS and not dictator, right?

What happens when Congress says no to him?

I would argue that the Congress will never say no to President Trump

He is far to savvy to let that happen. All though there are differences, the differences will not be all that great.

Trump will make a deal.A good deal has winners on both sides.

No, that is not selling out except to those that don’t really understand

But, if in the general he takes large donations...will that mean he is a slave to the donors?

My hunch is he will start to take those donations after he officially becomes the nominee. The cost of running a campaign for those many months will make that unavoidable

Oh Geez. Shall I post all the quotes of GW criticizing Cruz and Cruz criticizing GW?

Remember you’re dealing with people who you can show Trump’s own words to and they’ll tell you you’re spreading falsehood against their Messiah

It’s selling out when other politicians make deals with the other side.

It’s “The Art of the Deal” when Trump does it and the old “ you don’t really understand” line comes out when the Trumpers can’t really explain what deal Trump will make with Democrats and GOPe Republicans in Congress. The debt will only rise by 5 trillion? Some Obamacare? Amnesty for the illegals here in exchange for a wall

It wasn’t that long ago here that GOP candidates who boasted about working with Democrats and making deals with them were ridiculed.

You know the USA is Constitutional Republic and not a business adventure of Trump’s, right?
