McCain faces toughest reelection of his career

en. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is facing what may be the toughest reelection of his Senate career in an unpredictable presidential year, when many voters are angry with Washington.

Early polls show McCain tied with his Democratic challenger, Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D-Ariz.), at around 40 percent despite having nearly 100-percent name recognition in the state he has represented in either the Senate or House since 1983.

“The basic problem for John McCain is the same kind of thing that faces a lot of incumbents right now. He’s been there a long time. People are leery of Washington. They don’t like Washington,” said former Republican Rep. Jim Kolbe, who served 18 years alongside McCain in Arizona’s congressional delegation.

“This is a very tough challenge, probably the toughest race that he's faced since he was first elected,” Kolbe added. McCain’s path to victory is complicated by the likelihood the GOP ticket will be headed by Donald Trump, who has an overwhelmingly negative rating among Hispanic voters, a powerful and growing electoral bloc in Arizona.

Public Policy Polling, a Democratic firm, released a poll in early March showing that McCain has only a 26-percent approval rating and a whopping 63-percent disapproval rating.

Hmm, head to head against Romney's numbers, I bet Trump comes away smelling like a rose... Then again, this is a constantly made up number.

This MSM article really irritates me. McCain HAS A PRIMARY CHALLENGE IN HIS OWN PARTY!!!! How can this article talk about the Democrat being a problem, when Kelly Ward is closing the gap on him every day! She needed our help earlier. It’s the 11th hour now.

Let’s hope she wins because McCain will go full left turn on Wednesday!

The article downplayed the threat McPain has from his primary challenger. And I don’t think he’s got an extra $23 million left over from his disastrous 2008 presidential run that he overwhelmed J.D. Hayworth with six years ago to use against Kelli Ward this time around.

Come on, Arizonans, take the trash out this time!

I'm guessing he'll be looking to get the old "Gang" back together again to push for a vote on Zippys SCOTUS nominee.

He needs to win it. Before jaws hit the floor, here’s the logic.

He needs to win it to deny the democrat a Senate seat. Then he needs to be retired so that Governor Brewer can appoint his replacement. I believe she will be governor until 2018.

Notice he ‘needs TO BE retired’ and not ‘needs to retire’.

It’s not that he has been there a long time. It’s that he votes like a dimocrat far too often.
