Sen. Mark Kirk of Illinois on Friday became the first Republican senator to call for an up-or-down vote on Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland, saying on a Chicago radio show that his colleagues ought to just man up and cast a vote.
That Kirk would be first to break with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and other GOP colleagues, who believe the next president should pick the replacement for Justice Antonin Scalia, is not particularly surprising: Kirk was already one of two Republican senators, with Susan Collins of Maine, to call for hearings.

How’s that (R) ‘big tent’ working out for everyone?
What’s the next focus-group-tested term going to be since ‘conservative’ has been attached to ‘Republican’ and drivin’ into the ground?
When you stand for everything...
“That crack is the Illinois crackpot Mark Kirk!”
He’s up for re-election this year! We should vote for his RAT opponent!
Tells us a lot about the ACU doesn’t it!
Cruz will be next to demand a vote. What a disgrace Cruz has become. Cruz said it will help him in the northeast and beat trump. Cruz sucks!
I didn’t vote for either.
Reid is holding up a bill that would allow IG offices full access to the information they need to investigate criminal activities and corruption by government employees. The GOP needs to tell the democrats that has to come to a vote first. After it has been voted on they can double cross the dems and ask them how it feels.
Electing a RINO to a blue state is such an accomplishment. Every time there is an important vote, they go with the Dems. Just as well let the Dems have them.
Sen. Kirk had one primary opponent, James Marter. Unlike Kirk, Marter is pro-life, pro-gun rights, and anti-illegal alien. Kirk got 71%.
I live near Chicago, and I hope that no one, I know, will vote for Kirk’s democrat opponent. I work for the Constitution Party candidate, Chad Koppie. Chad is pro-life, pro-gun rights, anti-illegal alien, pro-fairtax, and pro-spending cuts. Please ask people to volunteer for him and/or donate to his campaign. We need to get at least 25,000 petition signatures between March 29 & June 20. Six people will be in that race, so someone could win with 17%. If all Illinois conservatives help Chad’s campaign, he might win. His site is www.chadkoppie.com.
The GD hell he will.
If the Democrats take the Senate, Garland will withdraw and Obama will nominate Van Jones.
