California regulators threw a lifeline Thursday to the struggling Ivanpah solar plant, which has failed to generate the electricity it is required to produce under contracts with PG&E Corp.

Too stupid to fail...
Of course they did. Liberals always give non-producers all the time they need. Producers, whether it be taxes, or environmental regulations, of labor regulations, have until yesterday.

When your in a hole, stop digging.
Not the leftist way...they just need more spoons and they will get there. You shall see!
I do not think Solar farms are a good idea. Those rays are supposed to kiss the earth.
Most likely killed far more birds than they allege DDT did.
If that is a Milton Friedman reference, two thumbs up.
I guess it produces enough electricity to pay its maintenance and upkeep costs.
Even if you forced the current owners into bankruptcy the plant could produce whatever it can under new ownership and continue operation.
BUT, BUT, BUT, solar power is FREE!
Thanks. :) It was kinda. I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer (to keep the theme of eating utensils), but I do know the spoon story. :)
Obviously this only makes juice in the daytime.
Anybody know what the “swing” source is otherwise?
Do they have storage or just buy juice from elsewhere?
If you ever heard some of the Bob Newhart’s spoof routines, where he poked fun at various things; this half-assed idea is made to order for a Newhart routine.
You con the gubmint into loaning you $2.2 BILLION$, to put a tank full of water on top of a tower, and then reflect sunlight from mirrors on the ground onto the tank to make the water boil, creating steam. The steam pressure spins a turbine to generate electricity, which is then routed to LA, to power the city.
Oh yes, this Rube Goldberg set-up is in the Mohave Desert, so the water has to be piped in from where? The more details one hears, the more stupid it appears. Only friends of Obama could pull off a scam like this; getting the $2.2 Billion. How much of that money has made its way into the Democrat Party coffers?
This bad LSD trip of an idea deserves to be included with Newhart’s “Grace L. Ferguson Airline & Storm Door Company”; or “The School for Bus Drivers”; or “A Griper in the Revolutionary Army”.
And a bunch of thieves in the current Democrat administration deserve to be in Leavenworth Prison.
I didn't think it was possible, but California's "regulators" are even more incompetent than Barack Omugabes's!
Would this be the same California regulators who approved the facility in the first place?
When they approved the damned thing, There were no "clouds, jet contrails and weather" at the Nevada/California border???
Still left unsaid, is the well known Physical rule of High Voltage AC electrical transmission : Typically, HALF of generated energy is lost in transmission (unless the generators are next door)
How long is the transmission line from Ivanpah to El Lay??

Haha that looks like a Bird Grill to me! I refuse to subscribe to the wsj, so how much more time do they get .till Hillary leaves office?
Driving a back road in my town recently i was shocked to see a solar wind farm.
Gee, i wonder who paid for that....
Anyways i took a close look the panels they are all oxidized and look like crap, probably getting 40% of the light they got when new.
It SNOWS here in MA and believe it or not it is dark or clouding over 50% of the time.
At this latitude Solar is BS anyways.
YEA.....my heart fluttered when i saw it...
Renewable Energy!!
Wonder what % of my outrageous light bill goes towards THAT boondoggle..
Whoops, NOT wind, Solar...even thought there are a few stupid wind turbines around here as well.
