Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas says GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump is scared to debate and that Mr. Trump looks down on voters, counting on them to believe whatever he tells them.
Mr. Trump, citing a prior commitment to speak at a policy conference hosted by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), said Wednesday he would not be attending the GOP presidential debate that had been scheduled for March 21 but was ultimately cancelled.
His excuse is silliness, and it reflects his assumption that he thinks the voters cant figure out that hes not telling [them] the truth, Mr. Cruz said on Wednesday evenings The Kelly File on Fox News.
Mr. Cruz pointed out that the conference hosted by AIPAC is a multi-day event it runs from Sunday to Tuesday and Mr. Trumps schedule would likely have been accommodated.
He chose to speak right in the middle of the debate [because] hes scared to debate, Mr. Cruz said.
And, you know, he just, he looks down on the voters, Mr. Cruz said. He thinks theyre gullible and will believe whatever hes saying. So Im going to be in D.C. for AIPAC as well since Donald is running away from the debate. Im happy to debate him there. If he wants, we can debate foreign policy, but the problem is, Donald doesnt do very well in foreign policy [because] he doesnt have even a basic modicum of knowledge.
Mr. Cruz said hes happy to debate Mr. Trump in Utah, where the Fox News debate was to be held, or Washington, D.C., or anywhere else.

Good grief how many more debates do you want?
The false bravado of the Trumpasites on this thread show they are scared of Cruz ass-whipping Trump.
Sorry, Ted. But it’s time now for Trump to focus on Hillary.
Trump was sputtering and tripping all over himself at the last few debates. He really can’t discuss much beyond a few slogans. Hopefully he can find lots of scheduling conflicts this fall to keep him off any stage with Clinton.
Well, 13 is a charm. After that debate the voters will send the remaining 87% delegates Cruz’s way.
Candidates in first place don’t need the kick a debate can (but doesn’t always) give.
Candidates not in first place want a debate as a possible game changer.
It offers an opportunity for them to try to knock the leader off the catbird seat.
scared of debates, you do know we have just had 12 for crying out loud?
Is this what Cruz’s general election strategy was supposed to be?
Squeak and cry that Hillary wont have a “debate” every week?
Trump is going after her now. Maybe Ted can try it himself?
So why didn’t he do it in the last debate? What was Cruz afraid of? He had the opportunity many, many times over to attack Mr. Trump during the last debate. Me thinks he is a hypocrite.
After 2 debates with Megan, Megan say Trump is scared of her
After 12 debates with Cruz, Cruz say Trump is scared of him
Riiight..
Cruz is a mean-spirited caught-lying flawed candidate,
who voted to allow ObamaTRADE.
All you cultists have left is lies and hot air.
Trump = loud chicken.
so how many more debates do you want for crying out loud?
We have just had 12, do you want another 12 or something, how about 35 more debates, enough is enough now.
It is over.
The false bravado of the Trumpasites on this thread show they are scared of Cruz ass-whipping Trump.
No, its we are sick to death of Cruz’s smug, self righteous, condescending, haughty, attitude. Trying to watch him for longer than a minute is torturous.
Another lie?
Perhaps you didn’t watch, but as more time was given to Trump, he did poorly. He comes off well when he can toss out a few bumper sticker slogans here and there. When he has more time and actually has to speak, he looks like an uninformed moron.
But hey, he has a very good brain and he’s said many, many things, so there is that.
Hmm a hostile “news” network trys to add a debate right before a important primary and wants you to cancel a major speech to an important voter block to be there.
Trump is smart. Why cancel a major speech you have scheduled for months just to walk into an obvious media ambush that is being staged to help your opponents?
“We had twelve of them already.”
12? I’m still waiting for the first one!
