Ted Cruz: Donald Trump is ‘scared to debate’
Washington Times ^ | March 17, 2016 | David Sherfinski

Posted on 03/18/2016 9:07:24 AM PDT by reaganaut1

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas says GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump is scared to debate and that Mr. Trump looks down on voters, counting on them to believe whatever he tells them.

Mr. Trump, citing a prior commitment to speak at a policy conference hosted by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), said Wednesday he would not be attending the GOP presidential debate that had been scheduled for March 21 but was ultimately cancelled.

“His excuse is silliness, and it reflects his assumption that he thinks the voters can’t figure out that he’s not telling [them] the truth,” Mr. Cruz said on Wednesday evening’s “The Kelly File” on Fox News.

Mr. Cruz pointed out that the conference hosted by AIPAC is a multi-day event — it runs from Sunday to Tuesday — and Mr. Trump’s schedule would likely have been accommodated.

“He chose to speak right in the middle of the debate [because] he’s scared to debate,” Mr. Cruz said.

“And, you know, he just, he looks down on the voters,” Mr. Cruz said. “He thinks they’re gullible and will believe whatever he’s saying. So I’m going to be in D.C. for AIPAC as well since Donald is running away from the debate. I’m happy to debate him there. If he wants, we can debate foreign policy, but the problem is, Donald doesn’t do very well in foreign policy [because] he doesn’t have even a basic modicum of knowledge.”

Mr. Cruz said he’s happy to debate Mr. Trump in Utah, where the Fox News debate was to be held, or Washington, D.C., or anywhere else.

Well he kicked Cruz’s butt on Tuesday night. Isn’t that enough? That’s where it counts.

Constitution BS. How about some plain language common sense? Is that too scary?

I think the debate should focus on why the decades long job performance of those lawyers/politicians in government like Cruz, is so poor it’s nearly caused irrecoverable harm to America and it’s people. Lets talk about corrupt elections run by insider super PACs who own these politicians like Cruz. Like when Cruz’s corrupt PAC funneled $500,000 to Fiorina’s corrupt PAC. WTF?

Lets focus on the politicians finances and why they generally come out wealthy while Americans decline, decade after decade. Focus on why these public servants becoming our masters.

We don’t need yet another corrupt stinking law clerk turned politician who can recite law. We don’t need Cruz up there straining to sound like George Washington or Lincoln. That’s all bull sh*t. We need a leader not a lawyer, who can lead the country out of the disaster created by these lawyers/politicians.

Learn it.

Ted,Ted,Ted...You’re falling further down in my estimation each day. I concede that you’re the better debater. You would win on points. But more people like Trump’s message. We’re electing a CEO of this country, not a debater.

All of us dumb, low information voters, per Ted Cruz, must just not get it.

Mr. Trump is going to make a “deal” with the Sen. from Alberta:

—Cruz wins the debate, and Utah’s delegates.

—Trump wins Arizona, takes more delegates.

What a deal. They both get some of what they want. Cruz wants to win debates, and Trump wants to win the nomination.

Trump scared? Nah.

He is just too busy giunning up his 1237 delegates by campaigning in the remaining 26 states.

Besides, Trump figures he has lined enough network pockets , and now its time to raise money for his campaign as presidential nominee.

Cruz and Kasich have zero hope of winning the nomination now, as Americas rallies behind Trump in opposition to leftist who have joined with GOPe treasonous attempts to destroy the Trump campaign. All Cruz and Kasich can do is hand the election to Hillary.America has it figured out.

Donald will run the board and get his 1237. Count on it.

Besices, Kasich and Cruz do not satisfy rule 40B of the RNC convention rules, whichi states it takes 100% of the delegates in at least 8 states to get onto the convention floor.Neither Cruz or Kasich have any genuine chace or hope hope to satisfy Rule 40B.( Ritt Momsey used rule 40B to ban Rand Paul from the 2012 convetion floor, and Trump can do the same to Rubio, Kasich and Cruz.)Trump gets the nominati0n wjhetehr he reaches 1237 or not, BUT IMHO Trump will make his 1237 and then some, simply because of the way that the GOPe and Left are acting to destroy Trump, threatening to kill Trump and his family and so on.

Trump is now guaranteed the nomination.

Hillary is $hitting bricks, whichi is why the attacks on Trump are intensifying.

Liberal fascists around the world are howling like vampires with recently applied Trump-garlic suppositories.

Love IT!

But hey, he has a very good brain and he’s said many, many things, so there is that.

Well, the Donald did say he was going hire "terrific" people to handle all the thinking. I believe he means himself. But who knows who he would hire. Jeff Sessions is pretty good, but other than him, who else are all these "terrific" people he's spouting about?

Trump doesn't know his a** from a hole in the ground on most issues. He's a bumper sticker sloganeer who is right on one big issue. I sure hope the people he hires know a little more...if he gets elected....which is no sure thing.

He did defend Trump. I actually listened to what he said. Try it some time.

While I don’t buy the Cruz comments about Trump bearing some responsibility I also was disturbed by Trumps comments about Pathological Ben Carson.

None of these guys are perfect, just ask Trumps first two wives. Or Pelosi, Reid and Schumer- former Trump buddies.

Trump may turn out to be a half-way decent President. But Ronald Reagan The Second is not in the cards. My expectation: a mix of Truman, Nixon and Bush 1 with a touch of Franklin Roosevelt. Maybe more than a touch.

“Cruz is a mean-spirited caught-lying flawed candidate,
who voted to allow ObamaTRADE.”

Then The Orange One shouldn’t be running from Cruz. Sounds like Trump could whip him in a debate.

12 debates later.
cruz has won only 3 primary election states.
cruz failed to win a county in the swing states of VA, FL.
He came third in both swing states and OH.
He failed to win a single county in some southern states.
He is behind in delegates.
He has the establishment behind him.
He hired Bush.
Cruz joined the George W. Bush presidential campaign in 1999 as a domestic policy adviser, advising then-Governor George W. Bush on a wide range of policy and legal matters, including civil justice, criminal justice, constitutional law, immigration, and government reform.

Cruz assisted in assembling the Bush legal team, devising strategy, and drafting pleadings for filing with the Supreme Court of Florida and U.S. Supreme Court, in the case Bush v. Gore, during the 2000 Florida presidential recounts, leading to two wins for the Bush team. Cruz recruited future Chief Justice John Roberts and noted attorney Mike Carvin to the Bush legal team.

What more proof or facts do you honestly need to see it is OVER?

“No, its we are sick to death of Cruz’s smug, self righteous, condescending, haughty, attitude. Trying to watch him for longer than a minute is torturous.”

Wow, sounds like Trump could whip Cruz. Wonder why he’s chickening out?

How unhinged? This is the usual tactic of candidates behind. Especially when Trump gets the lion’s share of publicity without spending a dime. If he wins it will because he plays the media brilliantly. He is the train wreck they can’t help looking at.

I’d be ecstatic if there was any sort of clear elaboration on what exactly Trump’s platform is, and I’m not talking about the papers on his website written by other people and apparently not read by Trump himself.

With less people on the stage Trump is have to fill out his time with more than insults; maybe actually explain some policy a little deeper than “we are going to win big”.

He struggled at this in the last debate, no wonder he's not going back for more.

...Cruz never single-handedly won a case in front of SCOTUS.  He has always been part of a team.

Wow. That knowledge has been hidden for sure.  I was under the impression that he was the main actor.

I would love to be a fly on the wall in the Golden Sacks meeting where Cruz was selected as the designated Ultra Conservative masked candidate.

Seems to me the requirements were to select a capable debater, a person with an over-sized ego, someone who theoretically could win the evangelical voters, and someone who could be bought.

And Golden Sacks was clever.  Rather than give the money directly to Ted, they hired his wife in a job worth $800,000 in salary and benefits.

The gig is up, Ted.  Your true GOPe colors are showing through now.  Pretty soon the mask will become totally transparent and we'll see the face of Jeb! underneath.

Oh, and the real kicker, of course, is that at the brokered convention you seek, just when you think you've got it in the bag, they will inform you that the Constitution doesn't allow them to run you for President after all.  And there will be big disappointment as they reluctantly select Romney or Kasich.

Ted, you're a sad case.  Guess your bid for "world domination" isn't gonna happen after all.  Something like that.

I have 12 fights with you and you keep losing. You want another fight and I said enough is enough.
Is that chickening out to you or just that yo want to think that the next fight might make a difference?

Quite frankly if CNN wanted a debate, trump may have lied it. They tend to be good. But heck with Fox the worst. And Spanish channel. I can’t believe CNN has to a point treated trump better then fox.
