Also, with Trump at the top of the ticket, it’s very likely that the Senate will be strongly Dem after the election anyway, so probably Merrick would be better than what Hillary might propose to a Dem Senate next year.

We are currently struggling with the ballot box and the very real fear that the ballot box is a fraud and that someone will be forced down our throats at the convention. I hope that doesn’t happen.
But in a similar vein, EVERYONE in Washington knows that the Republican voters don’t want Obama to put someone else on the Supreme Court. If the Republican congress engages in Kabuki theater and waits until after the election and then gives Obama what he wants (as usual) then it will be an additional repudiation of the value of the ballot box.

So in other words, after allowing Obama to use their inaction on his Supreme Court nominee to beat up Republicans as proof of being obstructionist, that same Republican Congress is going to approve the nomination after the election? 2-The scenario “may” play out if Clinton wins,
3-We can’t be certain who either nominee will be yet,
3a-Clinton could be indicted and another candidate fielded,
3b-Cruz could still win a contested convention.
3c-The down-ballot impact of 3a and 3b are unpredictable.
Of all the people on earth who I despise, She, Matthews and Obama would all be in the top 10. Maybe in the top 5.
