80% say YES
just asking. My first instinct is to shut Obama down. But maybe he can be maneuvered into naming someone who is legitimately moderate.
"...We have received your SCOTUS nomination, we will comprehensively examine his suitability for the job, and we will advise you the results of our findings, Mr. President..."
Should never even schedule. Just ignore. Obama is just continuing to stir up trouble and keeping his evil name before the public. He is a sorry excuse for a human being.
Dear Mr. Prsident...Don’t call us we’ll call you.
Barack is a lame duck unless gutless republicans make him relevent again as they did four years ago.
I agree...Just ignore Mr. Lame Duck from now on.
Sure, they could tack that sentence on at the end, too.
LOL! I’d prefer they just ignore the forwarded nominee until after 1/20/2017 and have the new pres withdraw his name. Then nominate Joe Arpaio. LOL!
They already said they would not vote so why the poll?
Trouble is, once McConnell caves and DOES allow a hearing, the RINOs in the Senate will melt like snow in the rain and whatever cockamamie bat-guano crazy liberal fruit loop is sent up by the Current Occupant will be confirmed with only a few dissenting votes by the full Senate.
Remember the ringing words of Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), We should not confirm any Bush nominee to the Supreme Court, except in extraordinary circumstances. They must prove by actions, not words, that they are in the mainstream rather than we have to prove that they are not.
I have a little trouble with Senator Schumers definition of the mainstream, as well.
That question has already been decided in favor of taking the risk. I don't think the fact that Garland is a "moderate" who would have sailed through confirmation at any other time, or that because he's 63 he'll have a shorter tenure, will change the decision.
But never put anything past Mitch McTurtle.
December 19, 2001 The American Prospect listed Merrick Garland as a First Tier pick for SCOTUS should Al Gore be President

Whats so big a deal use your brains we stop O bam bam and if Hillary does win we push thru a fast approval of this anti-gun guy and let Hillary spin in the wind....
Why are you attacking me?
I'm sure to be pilloried, but I'm a stickler for usage. He won't be a lame duck until his successor is chosen in November. See Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary 698 (2004) (defining "lame duck" as "an elected official or group continuing to hold political office during the period between the election and the inauguration of a successor").
Of course, they should oppose this dolty judge. So-called ‘moderates’ that Dem presidents put up always turn out to be flaming liberals. Just look at Breyer and Ginsburg. We’ve played this game before and been burnt badly. I applaud Senate Majority Leader McConnell for holding the line on this.
Yes 815 (83%)
No 135 (14%)
