The Latest: Trump not attending March 21 debate in Utah AP News | Mar 16, 2016

Donald Trump says he will not participate in the next GOP presidential debate on Monday in Utah because "we've had enough debates."

The front runner for the Republican presidential nomination said Wednesday on Fox News that he's committed to a big speech the same night.

Trump says he didn't know about the March 21 event until Tuesday night, when he won critical primaries in Illinois, North Carolina and Florida.

Without Trump, the only two onstage would be Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who won his home state in the same contests Tuesday, and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. It would be a clash of potential alternatives as each man maneuvers to claim the mantle of credible alternative to the brash billionaire who has controlled the race for months.

Donald Trump says Republican senators who are trashing him in public are calling him in private because they want to "become involved" in his presidential campaign, eventually.

Why should Trump debate anyone other than Hillery now?

It was a Romney setup and Trump knows it.

Because he has not clinched the nomination yet. He’s only halfway home.

Who cares about watching a debate between Cruz and Kasich?

GOPe wants to prop up Kasich and give American voters a chance to give him a second look.

Nope.

Let Cruz take him down. Cruz NEEDS to in order to be viewed as the Trump alternative. He cannot afford to let Kasich catch up to him in delegates.

Romney is the #1 POS of Planet Earth. Even ahead of Glenn Beck, who is a very close runner-up.

He still doesn’t need to debate.
Who doesn’t know who he is and who doesn’t know what he has said?

Trump is a known commodity. This is a great way for Cruz and Kasich to take the stage and defend their positions.

Exactly. His daughter is expecting any day and his youngest son hasn’t seen him in a week or so. Where the hell is Priebus? He should be calling this off in the first place!

After last night, Trump is in the major leagues. Why would he lower himself by mixing it up with minor league scrubs. Esp if the game is fixed.

AIPAC shows where his priorities are.

I cannot blame Trump for this.

With four of five wins yesterday, and with a well over 200 delegate lead...there is no need for any more debates and I cannot blame him for asserting himself.

At this stage, Cruz could soldier on and maybe win another four or five states. But that will just further divide the voters.

The best thing Cruz could do at this point, IMHO, would be to go to Trump in early April and make a deal where he throws in his hundreds of delegates with Trump and they make a Trump/Cruz ticket.

This would be best for the country. It would cement in concrete an absolute crushing win by the anti-GOPe voters and candidates and out an end to the fratricide.

I hope that is what happens.

GOPE is pushing for Ryan as Third Party stooge.

“A group of conservatives planned to meet Thursday to discuss options including a contested convention or by rallying around a third-party candidate. While such no candidate has been identified, meeting participants planned to discuss ballot access issues, including using an existing third party as a vehicle or securing signatures for an independent bid.

House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., did not rule out the idea of being drafted by the party at the convention.

“People say, ‘What about the contested convention?’” Ryan said in an interview with CNBC. “I say, well, there are a lot of people running for president. We’ll see. Who knows?”

If we already know what Trump’s going to say in a debate and he is a known commodity, why is yet another speech so important? We’ve heard plenty of his speeches.

More likely Trump is afraid to debate Cruz with so few people on stage. Trump would be in serious trouble in a real debate with Cruz.

Agreed. We have heard all of their positions and there is nothing left to be said between the Republican candidates. Debate fatigue is setting it.
