Anyway you look at it, Trump will be blamed and Democracy will not be served. The reaction of the Elites in the country now proves that the concept of “We the People” either never really existed or disappeared at least 100 years ago. It is absolutely suicidal for the Republicans to keep this up. A GOP civil war means Hiliary wins and the nation goes the way of Nero's Rome. Trump really is this nations last hope and while that sounds cliche, it is true.

Ill vote Cruz in the primary, though he will never assemble enough delegates for a win. I’ll vote Trump in the general. My state will go hillary nonetheless. So the presidential contest is over for how I can affect it. I’ll do other useful things.

The Establishment Elites might not be able to derail Trump from the nomination, but they most certainly will ensure his defeat in November. The establishment elites couldn't ensure Jeb's victory with $130 million worth of advertising and astroturf ground game. What makes you think they can ensure Trump's defeat?

It’s across the board. Look at the role super-delegates are playing in the Democrat nominating process. They know better than their base what’s good for them, too.

Riiiight. Kasich with his hundred some odd delegates will outvote Trumps 1100 + delegates. Typical Cruz delusion.

The powers that be have not come up with an effective strategy against Trump. PACs funded by the country club Republicans spent tens of millions of dollars in social media, TV, radio, print, and Internet advertising with little if no effect. Arguably, on Super Tuesday, the campaign may have explained why Trump underperformed in a few states vs. polling numbers. However, the ad blitzes were abject failures based on yesterday's results. Marco Rubio and anti-Trump PACs spent $15 million in Florida, a state Trump won by 19 percentage points. The leftist thuggery in Chicago may have rebounded in Trump's favor. He did better in Missouri than was anticipated. Cruz won in three of the state's neighbors: Kansas, Iowa, and Oklahoma; by all rights, Missouri should have followed suit. The reaction to the Black Lives Matter and MoveOn hoodlums may have helped Trump in Illinois as well.
At some point, the GOP-e will have to recognize the inevitability of a Trump win. The odds of the Republicans holding the Senate in this election cycle are tough, as the class of Senators up for re-election were swept in during the 2010 election. The Republicans have more seats up for grabs than the Democrats. Party leverage is based on representation in the houses of Congress. If the Democrats take the seats due to any of the big GOP factions (moderates, conservatives, and populists) sitting the election out, the GOP-e loses leverage. In 2012, the Republicans pushed the Ron Paul libertarians out of the way with Rule 40. However, the libertarian numbers were, and remain, small. The elder Paul received in the 8-15% range in most primary states. However, the three factions have a greater ability to sabotage the GOP than angry libertarians did four years ago.
It will take some serious negotiations between Trump, Cruz, and the GOP-e to prevent an electoral disaster, especially at the Senate level.

Look for rule 40 to go away before the convention.

You will all be able to tell your grandchildren that you witnessed, with your own eyes, the historic end of the Republican Party.

Hmmmm.
Started out in Texas. Now lives in MAUI!
Can’t give Trump credit for being able to tie his own shoes.
Damn! I think we may have an “FRinsider” in our midsts!
