Ted Cruz fought his way to second place in the Republican primary as the conservative who never compromises. But already, hes learning to stretch.
Behind closed doors, Cruzs aides are talking about how to draw more centrist supporters as Republican rivals drop out. They have given former Jeb Bush donors access to the entire campaign leadership team. And Cruz has made overtures to Senate colleagues who despise him, praising Mitch McConnell and Marco Rubio and talking by phone with Lindsey Graham.

Kneel Bush of the Silverado Savings and Loan scandal is now on Cruz’s campaign staff dealing with fund raising. He joined the Cruz te shortly after the Sea Island CONfad to stop Trump.
This man should have gone to prison.
I think from a post on a Trump thread yesterday that Jim may have already changed his position.
But in answer to your question Jim is not above being ashamed or admiting he made a mistake.
He has also said he will support the nominee.
How can anyone see this and still think Cruz is his own man. He’s not and I’m sorry to say he’s bought and paid for by the Bush family. By April when the math finally catches up with Cruz after all those northeastern primaries he has to know his shot at the nomination is finished, not that it isn’t already, and would want to cut a deal with Trump. Being a Bush puppet will prevent that from happening. He’s at their mercy now. Well on the bright side at least Ted knows he has a nice lobbyist job waiting for him, but his political career is over!
Another ‘conservative’ Republican moves toward the center.
Water is wet.

Now, there are rumblings that Ryan may pick up the establishment gauntlet since Rubio failed and Kasich can only win Ohio.
Evangelicals seem to be easily fooled by him, too.
Jed Bruz.
“But I thought he was a liar?!?!?!?”
It does take one to know one.
Delegates Count % of remaining available 1079 needed 1237 trump has 661 trump needs 406 (38.6%) cruz has 406 cruz needs 831 (77.0%) kasich has 142 kasish needs 1095 (101.5%)Cruz's chance of winning is half of Trump's chance.
Kasich's chance is worst than zero and requires many more delegates than the 1,079 remaining.
In short Cruz is running against the wind and Kasich is running to steal it from the voters at the convention.
Trump needs 54% of the remaining delegates.

Who cares what Cruz is doing at this point. The man is an insufferable bore. His arrogant, absurd speech last night really put me off.
Trump’s suggestion... reach out , reach across the aisle, reach to the Independents, reach to the Democrats... I think Cruz is just now catching up with Trump.
Exactly - so no "shift to the middle." Politico is engaged in either wishful thinking or deliberate subversion.
Trump never claimed to be the intractable conservative who would never ever work with the establishment or cartel as Cruz labeled them.
Trump will stay true to his basic platform but those voting for him understand he wrote The Art of the Deal. Trump’s not a lying hypocrite like Cruz.
I wonder if Cruz understands that the longer he stays in this race, the more he cozies up to GOP, the more supporters he loses and lessens his chance for any other position.
I’d rather Cruz cozy up to the GOP than Trump go back to being cozy with the Democrats.
Cruz as Otter: Otter: "Hey, you can't spend your whole life worrying about your mistakes! You messed up. You trusted me!"
Supporter as Flounder: [crying] "That's easy for you to say! What do I do now?!"
Glenn Beck as Bluto: "My advice to you is to start drinking heavily." [Beck gives Flounder a six-pack.]
And Trump thinks his supporters are most loyal because they would stick with him even if he shot someone on 5th Ave.
Cruz supporters will stick with him even if he hands us all back to the establishment overlords and kills our last chance of breaking free. In fact, he'll help them.
Cruz supporters are liberty's suppressors.
No, it is not a plus. What he should be saying is he can beat Pelosi, Reid, et al — not work with them.
Don’t treat Trump like an infallible messiah. It scares those of us who intend to support him if he wins the nomination.
