Trump sat on his lead and sought to run out the clock.

He did that masterfully and in all likelihood, closed the sale last night on the Republican nomination.

Every one else was fighting for second place.

No wonder it was a subdued debate.

Rubio’s only chance is to stay in to block Cruz and trade for the veep slot. I think he has good reason to do that to redeem his presence in this campaign.

Trump gets a bit of assurance for Florida’s purple state electors and an Hispanic who was actually born in this country.

I look forward to having an experienced, accomplished businessman in the office of president. I have long thought that businessmen would be better in office than career politicians.

Plus, there is rich material for bad hair jokes. Even though Trump has tamed his wild comb-over (or toupée?) a bit, there is still plenty of fodder for jokes. Joking about hair will be a lot healthier for the country than the obsession with sexual-related mental illness that Obama brought with him.

Cruz try to use the myth/lie that Smoot-Hawley caused the Great Depression. When I saw that I knew he was fished.

Folks will remember little of what was said in the debate. Much of it was bureaucratic gobbledygook that might have been about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. Only Trump stayed focused on big picture ideas. IMHO.

Polls: Who Won Tonight's CNN Debate in Florida?
  Average Time Wash.
Times
NJ.com Syracuse
.com
Heavy
.com
Blaze Drudge
Trump 76% 80% 87% 80% 87% 81% 62% 52%
Cruz 14% 5% 4% 6% 4% 6% 29% 41%
Rubio 7% 9% 6% 8% 6% 9% 7% 4%
Kasich 4% 6% 2% 4% 4% 4% 3% 3%

However, we know that Blaze and Drudge have a hard-core bias toward Cruz.
As far as I know, none of the other sites have a strong bias.

So... without Blaze and Drudge, the average rating was...

  Average
Trump 83%
Rubio 8%
Cruz 5%
Kasich 4%

Cruz, a skilled debater, played DEFENSE in the debate. Normally a player in his position would play offense.
Both offense and defense have their appropriate time.
But why choose defense on March 10?

Here’s my take on it:

The GOP elites are realizing that there is virtually no way to stop Trump, they know that the total delegates needed to lock up the nomination is within his grasp and only a 180 degree turn around in political fortunes for Trump could change that.

And they also know that if they attempted any sort of convention shenanigans to install one of their GOPe owned-and-operated candidates, that it would result in such revolt and chaos that Trump might not even have to form a third party, the sheer outrage from voters could possibly propel him to the Presidency based on write in votes alone (indulging in a bit of rhetorical speculation to be sure, but make no mistake about it - the voters are pissed off).

So what do they do to stop Trump?

There is only one way, and that is to quietly and below the radar, send the word out to the Rick Wilsons and Glenn Becks of the political world, that perhaps it’s time for Trump to meet the same fate as another populist did, the late Huey Long of Louisiana. It is not hyperbole to suggest that had Long not been assassinated in 1935, he would have a very good shot at ending FDR’s time in the White House the following year.

Trump had better ramp up his security as I see it because there just might be more of a threat from within, than from without.

Anyone know how to post an article?

Sarah Palin exposes Ted Cruz today on Facebook. The following is just some of Sarah Palin’s post :

Sarah Palin:

https://www.facebook.com/sarahpalin/posts/10154013835098588:0

” * Where’s information on any Cruz success whilst in his short, half-term U.S. Senate seat, proving his resume’s advantage over another career politicians’s lawyerly executive inexperience that includes never having created a single private sector job, but boasting of his constitutional law teacher creds? (Remember America experimented with that resume before; how’d that work out for the country?)

* Where’s info on his reasoning in inviting more illegal aliens to flood our porous borders by enticing families with benefits and literal gifts (like teddy bears and soccer balls)? http://theconservativetreehouse.com/…/ted-cruz-visits-texa…/

* Any info on why he won’t denounce his highest-profile campaign buddy, despite Glenn Beck’s proclamation that he “hates” America’s innocent victims of 9/11 and calls the families crybabies? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf33g9ep4YU, nor hold accountable his campaign manager for abhorrent tactics that mirror Alinsky’s Politics of Personal Destruction? http://www.mediaite.com/…/ted-cruz-adviser-admits-to-makin…/

* Info on why he continues to stand on stage with that most prominent supporter who slurs millions of patriotic Americans supporting the GOP frontrunner, calling them Nazi “brown shirts”? http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/…/glenn-beck-loses-fans-an…/

* Info on consistency with his big endorsement this week, as Carly tells it like it is so very recently?
“Ted Cruz is just like any other politician. He says one thing in Manhattan, he says another thing in Iowa. He says whatever he needs to say to get elected, and then he’s going to do as he pleases. I think people are tired of a political class that promises much and delivers much of the same.” - Carly Fiorina 1/2/16

* Info on his support for his crony capitalists’ insistence that he fast-track Obama’s unbalanced trade agenda, then lied about it? http://theconservativetreehouse.com/…/yes-unfortunately-te…/

* Info on why he’s fine with increasing U.S. debt? http://truthinmedia.com/cruz-rubio-vote-increase-debt-ceil…/

Did anyone notice Cruz wearing a prepper rope bracelet?

?

Cruz is obviously pandering to the fringe. Really bizarre. He needs to be broadening his coalition beyond the true believers.

When Trump repeatedly called Putin a “strong leader” without refusing to place a value judgment on his leadership,

These people are English challenged. Have they never heard of a "strongman"?

Had Rubio acted like this the entire election he’d be ahead of Cruz. If Cruz had acted this way the entire election the race would be different. But both of them acted like little kids plus Cruz lied and cheated. It cost them both. Now they’re all running for vice president.
