Donald Trump Actually Losing To Hillary Clinton In Latest Poll It's Never Quite That Easy [51%-38%]

Donald Trump Actually Losing To Hillary Clinton In Latest Poll It's Never Quite That Easy.

LISA MASCARO

Donald Trump closed the debate by promising the GOP would easily win the White House in November if the party united around his candidacy.

"The Republican Party has a great chance," Trump said, pointing to the "millions" of people he is drawing to the GOP. "These are people that will win us the election, and win it easily."

The problem is, Trump is actually losing to Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton in the latest matchup polls.

Clinton beats him, 51% to 38%, in an NBC News Poll/Wall Street Journal released this week.

And the gap has only widened in recent weeks, according to a compilation of polling at RealClear Politics. Trump was narrowly ahead, 45%-43%, in early February.

Even more, it is not clear that Trump is bringing in millions of new GOP voters; thousands of Democrats in some states have switched party affiliation amid record primary voting turnout.

Which Republicans are competitive against Clinton?

Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio would be tougher for her to beat, the poll showed.

A Clinton-Cruz matchup, 47%-45%, and Clinton-Rubio, 46%-46%, were both razor thin, within the margin of error

Just an anecdote, but my secretary for the last 20 years is a wonderful hispanic woman. She is not political. I asked her to take off from work to vote and she voted for Rubio as I did.

She is from a very large family - she is the 11th of 13 children. There are dozens of cousins, aunts, children and grandchildren. They keep track of each other through facebook. She showed me her facebook and it was just one “Donald Trump hates Mexicans” post after another. Every picture or post had 50 posts under it cursing at him. There are probably 100 voters on this thread, few of them very informed, but almost all of them will vote. If there are any Donald Trump supporters on the thread they haven’t dared to speak up.

I have a very small family. This whole thing is alien to me, but it is very real to them.

I welcome the media exposing every democrat who took a campaign donation from Trump

I doubt the democrats will welcome that

Kinda blunts their ability to criticize him , doesn’t it ?

“Trump is a rasist! But I accepted $10,000 in political donations from him’

Are you talking about the ILLEGAL ALIENS?

The Orthodox Jews and Hasidm vote GOP. Most SECULAR Jews don't; however there probably will be some crossover from them.

A majority of Blacks, in Harlem, and in some other boroughs are also for Trump! Don 't you watch the interviews, nor read NYC newspapers? Lots of Union workers ( forget teachers )are for Trump!

I don't know the Chinese stats...sorry...so Chinatown and Flushing are a question mark for me, so far.

Staten Island will, of course go Trump!

Neither Hillary nor Bernie is Obama! Trump has home state advantage!

Trump SHALL win the N.Y. State primary!

Sure FUGLY lefty Bertha Lewis and the WORKING FAMILY PARTY/ACORN will do the usual VOTER FRAUD...but they'll do that in the general...maybe.

Will Trump beat Hillary, if she's the nominee? It'll be close, but I believe that he can do it!

Cruz or anyone else ?

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Let’s puti to this way

In the GOP primaries so far he is pulling more muslims and blacks than the other 3 candidates combined

In some cases, more Latinos too

His popular vote exceeds the other 3 candidates - and Hillary- ,by what, almost 2 million?

Go back to the state reports and do your own math

So that’s why Hillary is losing to Sanders in popular vote states!
The democrats are all crossing over to vote Trump to help her!

The Reagan-Carter comparisons are ridiculous because 1980 USA no longer exists. The country was far, far whiter then, and since whites are the only real swing voters, the GOP could actually compete ten in places like CA, NY and IL. Now the GOP, including with Trump as the nominee, isn't going to spend a dime or an hour in those states. The electoral college today is very nearly a lock for the Dems.

Her defense is just going to be showing ad after ad with Trump praising her. What’s he supposed to say? Well I wasn’t telling the truth then but I am now?

“Report: 46,000 Pa. Democrats Become Republicans Due To Trump”

Of course they did. It’s a closed primary.. they have to temporarily change parties to cast a vote for Trump. What we won’t hear is how many re-register as dems in time to vote for Hillary in the general.

Operation Chaos in reverse.

Really need to drop the Reagan - Carter comparison.

I was a young man in 1980 and, except for a few older people who remembered Reagan as an actor, not alot of people really knew who he was.

Everyone knows Trump. He’s been in the media for decades

There's no guarantee that this is an operation chaos. It is entirely possible that Trump will attract independents and loosely affiliated Democrats who genuinely prefer his trade policies, his tax policies, his second amendment policies, and his illegal immigration policies.

Trump has demonstrated an ability to fight and win however while Cruz has demonstrated an ability to pander and lose. Pandering isn't fighting and pandering only works for you in primary elections. The thing that helps Cruz in a primary election will hurt him in a general election. The opposite is true for Donald Trump.

Believe it or not, a lot of people like what Donald Trump is about.

Trump did have a great line tonight though when he said the number 1237 delegates was just some random number someone came up with.

1237 is not random at all. It's the number of delegates needed for a majority.

Math is obviously not Trump's strong suit. I think he bought his way through school like a lot of rich kids do. He was probably too busy bullying and insulting classmates to bother with any actual scholarship. Note that he didn't get into any Ivy Leagues as a undergrad. That wouldn't be hard for a smart guy with a potential big donor father.
