NKorea tension Published March 09, 2016 Associated Press Facebook7 Twitter0 Email Print
WASHINGTON The U.S. says it has dispatched three B-2 stealth bombers on a training mission to the Asia-Pacific region amid growing tensions with North Korea.
The deployment was announced Wednesday by U.S. Strategic Command, which is responsible for U.S. nuclear forces. B-2 bombers are capable of launching nuclear as well as conventional weapons. They are based at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri.
Strategic Command said the bombers will conduct training with the Australian military during the deployment, which amounts to a show of force at a time of mounting tensions with North Korea. North Korea threatened pre-emptive nuclear strikes after the United States and South Korea began large-scale war games this month.

It is my understanding that these bombers are never to be based outside the US.
Are they carrying any B-61’s or B-83’s?
Well, if it’s training, then I guess not. :)
With Obama as president the bombers are probably carrying love letters.
Last time they were one crashed and burned on takeoff in Guam.
The weather and salt air is not easy on composites.
I’ve seen them flying past my mother’s old house many years ago. I’m not all that from them right now.
Haven’t been to the base in a long, long time.
I suppose Obama is placing them in the line of fire...
Obamas B-2 ROE: Fwy werwy, werwy fas, and fart in their general direction, but not at civilians.
We need a “preemptive strike “ . Let’s invade and Nuke them before China preemptively strikes us for preemptively striking their client. Or let’s NUKE THE HELL UP!! and close our borders!! GO TRUMP!!
So $3billion worth of assets placed in a compromising position. How long before the Chicoms have them fully scoped out?
The U. S. is the only nation to have used “the bomb”.
We have to be very careful about using it again. It has to be a last resort.
If North Korea sends something our way, we may have to knock it down and go in for the kill, but I’d advise conventional weapons.
With other nations states, very dangerous ones coming on board now, we do not want to seemingly give them a green light to use them, because it has (seemingly) become acceptable to us them. And if we use them for what we think is a good reason, you can bet they’ll use them at the drop of a piece of dust and call it a good reason.
It sucks, but that’s were we are IMO.
So true. I agree. We must return to a posture and reality that if you look at us wrong,we will KNOCK YOU OUT. BAD!!
I think that’s the message Trump is trying to convey,.
At the same time he says we’ll use our power sparingly, he’s making it clear if you take us on, you’ll be damn sorry.
Bargaining chips, so, dear reader can get a little butt time with dear leader.
Active Duty ping.
Yes, a waste of fuel and crewmen’s time unless they treat this as a training mission. It surely isn’t a serious mission. Probably carrying dummy bombs, as ordered by a dummy President.
Exactly. This is a stupid and impotent “show of force.” No, it is a show of farce. These bombers are perfectly capable of staging from their home bases and striking anywhere. Deploying them to bases in Asia just puts them within NK’S missile envelope and makes them vulnerable. obama is an idiot.
