Here's How 'President Cruz' Will Govern
The Huffington Post's Huffpost Politics ^ | March 9, 2016 | Earl Ofari Hutchinson

Posted on 03/09/2016 3:11:45 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

The conventional wisdom is that the GOP candidate who poses the far greater peril than Trump can't possibly win the GOP presidential nomination, and would have absolutely no chance in a general election. The result is that few have actually taken the time to closely scrutinize Ted Cruz's actual record. Now that the race for the GOP presidential contest is effectively a two-man race between Trump and Cruz, and the GOP establishment is mounting a furious, all-out full court press to stop Trump, it's time to take the hard look at Cruz that should have been done long ago.

In 2000, the then 29-nine-year old Cruz was the domestic policy advisor to the Bush presidential campaign and a former law clerk for the hard-line, strictest of the strict constructionist SCOTUS chief justice William Rehnquist. From his Bush post, Cruz lined up the legal team that wrangled the conservatives on the Supreme Court to halt the disputed election Florida election count and tip the White House to Bush. Cruz' star skyrocketed in the GOP after that triumph.

While Cruz has seemingly warred with the GOP establishment at times, the fight has been mostly over his style, personality, and comportment, but not on the key issues from abortion and Planned Parenthood to the economy and foreign policy. Take Cruz's rough edge off his bluster about these issues, and his stance on them is mostly in line with the party's on many of these issues. Cruz has been on the political scene long enough to have enough of a paper trail to piece together a fairly accurate picture of what he will say and do on the big ticket issues such as the budget, government spending, civil rights enforcement, the environment, crime control, the military and foreign policy if in the White House....

“Trump won’t abolish the IRS. Cruz will.

The IRS will not be abolished by Congress not ever, by politicians.

It has been a bad inauguration day every time for the last 40 years.

2016 - 40 = 1976

So you don't count the Reagan Inaugurations of 1980 and 1984 as good days?

That's sad.

Zzzzz. The cases are decided before oral presentations and the briefs are written by junior lawyers.

Rush said one of his great disappointments was learning the the Court never gets together and discuss the cases before them. Guess Scalia told him that.

To take the little scumbag in North Korea down once and for all we will need complete cooperation of strong ally Japan, where 70,000 US troops are now stationed—to say nothing of South Korea. And yet, I can personally assure you Japan is extremely unnerved at present by the rather uncalled for and endless Japan Bashing and other simplistic geopolitical vitriol on the part of candidate and would-be nominee Donald Trump. It’s nice to wish away Kim Jong Un, but it’s another thing to devise a solid strategy and plan to do it with all our key allies on board. Trump is spreading way too much ill will, disharmony and trepidation out here for no damned good reason. Many wish he would stop playing fast and loose with serious things. I believe Senator Cruz is the best informed and most mentally suited, stable and capable to handle this immediate crisis here in Asia.

That you know of...

Do you think this is the first time he's dealt with Asians?

Pretty sure he has.

His shirts, for example, are manufactured in communist China.

Enjoy the coronation of the NYC moderate who is to the left of Mitt Romney.

Can’t wait to hear the royal subjects swoon over the gown worn by his third trophy wife.

Thank you. Trump does not hide who he is. That is why we like him.

Cruz hides who is. He play acts and comes off overly dramatic and deceptive.

That is one of the problems he has with Evangelicals.

Great. Another voter who assesses candidates based on how they appear on TV. Kennedy was a handsome fellow, so was Romney.

No wonder this country is sliding into an abyss.

Now, now. I’m sure that Donald was in very similar danger as being in Vietnam while he attended that expensive prep school. Those marching drills were, no doubt, quite tricky. Probably where he learned his fancy footwork.

Sure it does, except that NO president can wipe out what SCOTUS has decided. THE PRESIDENT DOESN'T MAKE THE LAW!

Nor can he do ANYTHING about GAY PRIDE PARADES, abortions, or anything else you care to throw into that boiling pot of crap.

I think not Ted is a globalist, an establishment guy, who will sell his soul for the WH. Don’t bother arguing with me - I’m right and you aren’t.

I realized a while ago that the Trump supporters are a reflection of their leader.
