The conventional wisdom is that the GOP candidate who poses the far greater peril than Trump can't possibly win the GOP presidential nomination, and would have absolutely no chance in a general election. The result is that few have actually taken the time to closely scrutinize Ted Cruz's actual record. Now that the race for the GOP presidential contest is effectively a two-man race between Trump and Cruz, and the GOP establishment is mounting a furious, all-out full court press to stop Trump, it's time to take the hard look at Cruz that should have been done long ago.
In 2000, the then 29-nine-year old Cruz was the domestic policy advisor to the Bush presidential campaign and a former law clerk for the hard-line, strictest of the strict constructionist SCOTUS chief justice William Rehnquist. From his Bush post, Cruz lined up the legal team that wrangled the conservatives on the Supreme Court to halt the disputed election Florida election count and tip the White House to Bush. Cruz' star skyrocketed in the GOP after that triumph.
While Cruz has seemingly warred with the GOP establishment at times, the fight has been mostly over his style, personality, and comportment, but not on the key issues from abortion and Planned Parenthood to the economy and foreign policy. Take Cruz's rough edge off his bluster about these issues, and his stance on them is mostly in line with the party's on many of these issues. Cruz has been on the political scene long enough to have enough of a paper trail to piece together a fairly accurate picture of what he will say and do on the big ticket issues such as the budget, government spending, civil rights enforcement, the environment, crime control, the military and foreign policy if in the White House....

That’s him alright. Teddy the Tory.
Here’s how Cruz will govern: By failing to meet the deadline for his filings of the GS and Citibank loans with the FEC:

But, he doesn’t meet his obligations:

This is conservative? I think not Ted is a globalist, an establishment guy, who will sell his soul for the WH. Don’t bother arguing with me - I’m right and you aren’t.
Your welcome. I’ve had to stay away from Trump vs. Cruz conversations as much as I can around here because of the sensless hate towards Cruz and his supporters. No discussion of issues, just personal attacks.
What? Ridiculous.
Exactly. I’ve cut my reading of threads considerably as it is just so disheartening. And I really think about it before posting a response.
It's just noise. You learn to read past it.
The important thing to remember is that the only one that benefits from driving a permanent wedge between Trump's and Cruz's supporters is Hillary. You can bet there are people here trying to do exactly that, and they'll have us helping them pound on the wedge if we let them.
I don’t hate DT, he’s such a great person. Really nice person. I like all people like DT. Well, not really. I generally don’t like blonde men. I think it’s because my dad had black hair and blue eyes, which I favor. I especially don’t like men who actually have grey hair but dye it. Give me a break. My ex is also a pathological liar. So I have experience with them, too.
Cool site.
“Donald Trump’s campaign reported January receipts of $6,121,102 and disbursements of $11,500,706 leaving $1,584,721 cash-on-hand as of January 31st, and debts of $17,534,058. Trump put $4.9 million into his campaign in January.”
It has been a bad inauguration day every time for the last 40 years. This year is nothing new. Republican voters have disappointed me every time they go for the “guy that can win” instead of the guy that will rein in the government and preserve our Constitutional liberties. We had a rare chance to turn the tide with Cruz but we’re going to get NYC values instead.
The sad thing is, Trump doesn’t even hide who he really is. People project onto him who they hope he will be, just like the Democrats did with Obama.
Trump will join a long line of moderates who did little when elected or promised little even though they weren’t elected: both Bushes, Dole, McCain, Romney, Trump.
You’re going to be disappointed too, you just don’t know it yet. Trump supporters are the Republican version of that woman who thought Obama was going to pay for her rent and gas.
You think Trump is some kind of super right winger but he actually leans left of center. Enjoy your few months òf infatuation before reality kicks in.
Trump did attend a military academy for what that’s worth.

When you are a draft dodger it ain’t worth a warm bucket of spit.
I agree.
Government employees all few of them. We need to get away from that menetality.
I have zero faith in Cruz to do anything but debate or argue before a judge...although the public has not declared him a winner in even one debate.
To me Cruz is an ambitious talker, not a leader.
We definitely need someone in office that can say “You’re fired”. We don’t need a lawyer learning how to manage people or learning how to measure performance on the job. (Lawyer learning on the job applies to both Cruz and Rubio)
Yeah, the one who voted for TPP as a Senator by "mistake," and who's wife is an investment banker who's been working for years as the top aide to another investment banker who's the US Trade Ambassador who's dedicated himself to demolishing US borders to create the North American Union.
Yep, a rock-ribbed conservative family.
We are electing a president, to replace an emperor or dictator.
No 100% that the Republicans will lose the majority, not that they have used it for anything useful to the Republic anyway.
Teds.
