How Trump, Rubio and Cruz Would Fare Against Clinton in November (Clinton 51% - Trump 38%)
NBC News ^ | March 9, 2016 | Carrie Dann

Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders would handily defeat Donald Trump in a general election match-up, while a clash between Clinton and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz or Florida Sen. Marco Rubio would be a toss-up, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

The poll shows that Trump, who frequently boasts in interviews and campaign appearances that he would beat Clinton in November, would lose a one-on-one contest against her by double digits. In a head-to-head fight, Clinton gets the support of 51 percent of registered voters compared to 38 percent for the real estate mogul.

For Sanders, the margin of victory would be even greater, the poll shows.

The Vermont senator gets 55 percent support in a hypothetical two-person race against Trump, while the GOP front-runner would get just 37 percent.

While Trump remains the front-runner for the GOP nomination, Republicans like former presidential contender Mitt Romney have urged their party's voters to back Cruz or Rubio, whom they say would have a greater chance of defeating the Democratic nominee.

The NBC/WSJ data supports that theory; both Cruz and Rubio would be competitive with the former secretary of state, both running within the margin of error in hypothetical general election battles against Clinton.

First, WSJ/NBC polls have been proven to the the worst. But let’s pretend they are valid. Trump is doing better than Reagan at this point in the election.

March 1980
Reagan 33%
Carter 58%

Trump is a shoe in!

Yes. I’m thinking that Trump could win New York State ( at least if the D party bosses push Hillary onto the ballot). We will see

So far, the court challenges to Cruz’ eligibility have failed.. in two strongly liberal states.

Very convenient that all of these new polls are today, right after that “secret meeting” off the coast of GA.

This must be one of the new ideas.

Hillary is so popular that Trump can’t beat her.

Alrighty then. I think I will find out.

Those court challenges were dropped because the judges didn’t feel they can make that NBC decision or for other reasons.

Dropping those cases does not decide on way or the other of Ted is NBC.

It no longer matter about Cruz anyway. Trump is going to be nominee and the dems are peeing themselves silly with excitement.

NOTE THE TIMING

A rigged poll just when the last GOPe candidate collapses (i.e., as in last night). No more stopping Trump with a GOPe type (i.e., Rubio) - all that’s left now is to try (and hope) that Cruz can throw the nomination process into the convention, where the GOPe can pick their own candidate (i.e., Linda, Jeb, or Romney).

Hopefully Cruz figures out just how badly HE IS BEING USED and puts an end to that scheme.

"I can see the split screen campaign commercial. There is the poor victim in pink on the left screaming what difference does it make and Jihadis dragging ambassador Steven's body around the street on the right."

I would love to see that commercial playing around the clock.

I'd also love to see an email indictment come down followed by live news coverage of Hillary doing a slow speed chase (like OJ) around D.C. in her limo.

Reagan was down 20 points vs Carter at this point in the campaign.

Not comparable.
Again, Reagan was relatively an unknown in March of 1980 save for some older people who remembered him as an actor. I was there.

Demographics have also changed. But, I do agree that any poll taken now and used to predict what will happen in Nov. is useless.

“And the media haven’t even opened their main line of fire on Trump yet.”

Really? Then you must have insider info on that line of attack. Tell us the details.

Yeah, these guys are all about "details" when it comes to Trumps plans, but they seem to be satisfied with a lot more "fuzz" when it comes to this grand anti-Trump strategy they claim the media is just itching to unleash.
