Did I follow everything going on in the 2000 election? Yes. Did I know about Cruz then? No. I knew the Bush legal team fought the Gore "grab" in the way I was mad about (Florida court "changed" how they would count votes).....but the only "lawyer" I really remember was Ted Olsen
Do I remember any "attention" paid to Cruz during Bush's term? Nope....and I didn't realize Cruz was at the FCC, either, until he ran for the Senate.
I HAVE followed the cases that our now Governor, Greg Abbott, fought while he was Attorney General of Texas and Cruz was SG. It seemed like the atheists/liberals were flying out of the woodwork daily and Abbott was quite "active" against the mob. LOL Texas led the way with all 50 states to fight against Newdow who wanted the Pledge banned from schools because of the reference "under God", beat back LULAC on redistricting, convinced other states to join in 2nd amendment fight against the District of Columbia and fought the crapweasels who were trying to force Texas to "ban" the Ten Commandments monument on the Capitol grounds.
I "first" paid attention to Ted Cruz "singularly" in 2008 during the Medellin fight. As a Texan, this one meant a lot to me because we are being over run with illegal aliens that are NOT like the illegals we used to have that came in to pick crops and shear sheep like Obama lies about. (I've seen those hard workers replaced by drug mules and gang members PERSONALLY because we had a "pick up" trail behind my house until the BP started working the area and they moved their route). That Bush and others would DARE to say a convicted illegal alien murderer/rapist could not have his death sentence carried out because of some foreign laws.......chapped my butt to NO END.
Did I follow Cruz day in and day out after this. Nope. He left Abbott's office soon after Medellin, if I remember correctly. In fact, I didn't pick Cruz up again until 2012 when he started his run for Senate.
While your comment "what game are you playing" seems to imply you don't take my support seriously.....let me say that when I first "heard" Cruz speak....I didn't know that I liked him. In fact, I didn't pay much attention to the primary until I watched a "round table" where they started talking about the Medellin case and Cruz's participation in it. I started researching Cruz and listening more to what he said and he got my vote.
Have I watched Cruz since he got to Washington in 2013? Yes, I have, because I wanted to know if he would "turn" once he got the Washington like Cornyn did. In my opinion....Cruz did everything he promised Texas he would do when he got to Washington....and that means a lot to me in this day of "lying to get into power".
And may I say....I find it quite IRONIC that you would address this statement in reference to Cruz: when he decided to jump on the Tea Party bandwagon to further his career
The Tea party PICKED Cruz. In return, Cruz (and others like Mike Lee) have fought for the Tea Party/grass roots candidates by raising money for every CONSERVATIVE organization that will back them during primaries. Cruz has helped "BUILD" the movement against the GOPe that Trump now profits from.

Didn't Trump's long time financial/verbal support FOR Democrats like Hillary Clinton, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi ACTUALLY HELP get the country into the mess it's in now?
When/where/how did Donald Trump do any "HEAVY LIFTING" for our country and the Tea party/grass roots groups BEFORE he decided he wanted to be President?
