Ted Cruz Says Feds Should Dump Public Land
You Tube ^ | 3/5/2016 | Idaho Statesman

At 0:00 TED CRUZ: Too much land in this country particularly in the West is owned by the federal government. It's not right, it doesn't make sense and we need to transfer that land back to the states or even better back to the people. It should, the people of Idaho know much better what to do with the land here than does the federal government. There's no reason for the federal government to be the largest land owner in this country.

You know, in my home state of Texas, two percent of the state is owned by the federal government. I gotta tell you in Texas we think that's two percent too much. It doesn't make any sense at all.....the Eastern part of the country, that's not the case, the federal government doesn't own the majority of the land in the East, but the West when states joined the Union, they found themselves in a situation where the federal government took control of far too much land and I think we need to give it back to the states.......

You joined FR this morning and this is your first post?
Are you a supporter of Henry George (Karl Marx lite) ?

If over half of New York or Florida were Fed owned like some of the mountain states, you can be sure it would be a topic of discussion.

I think we’re finally hitting ‘critical mass’ on the federal lands issue. The Oregon Republican Party just came out with a very strong resolution demanding the release of federal land back to the states. I’ve been bringing it up as an issue with every politico I’ve had the chance to meet.

When it comes to Oregon...there is NO worse government to handle any issue than this Oregon governor/legislature. I wouldn’t trust them with my garbage.

Does that matter?

It is the State’s land to do as they please.

Cruz is full of crap on this. He has not introduced a single bill during his time as senator to correct this tyranny.

You are full of crap to expect it. Simply introducing a bill wouldn't accomplish anything. It will take bringing it up to public awareness to get it done. That takes the bully pulpit. Hell, if he had introduced such a bill you'd probably blame him that it didn't pass.

He is just another lying lawyer....his wife is up to her eyeballs in the Agenda 21/Wildlands Project/North American Union/TPP globalist nonsense.

Oh please. The paper Heidi Cruz helped write for the CFR specifically opposed a political union and emphasized national sovereignty.

North America is different from other regions of the world and must find its own cooperative route forward. A new North American community should rely more on the market and less on bureaucracy, more on pragmatic solutions to shared problems than on grand schemes of confederation or union, such as those in Europe. We must maintain respect for each other's national sovereignty. But don't let facts trouble you.

Ted Cruz campaigned in Idaho yesterday and this is what he said about federal land in the West.
_______________________________

I am in favor of the States getting control of land except:

1. The states will divvy the land up among each states “favorite sons”. How will he deal with that?

2. Can the land be sold to foreign countries like Reid was doing in Nevada?

3. I can tell you who will benefit in Utah. We have State Trust land in Utah now and good luck trying to keep it honest.

4. What safeguards to protect the states from corrupt influence?

5. Who will protect the Federal lands from one of Ted Cruz’s largest donors? $15 Million from the Wilks family

http://www.greatfallstribune.com/story/news/local/2016/01/26/blm-pursue-land-exchange-wilks-brothers/79362402/

The Bureau of Land Management won’t move forward with a controversial and high-profile land exchange in Montana proposed by the Wilks Ranch, which would have given the BLM permanent public access to land in the Missouri River Breaks but taken away public land in central Montana.

Donating to the Cruz campaign is not a charitable, selfless cause.

Too bad Teddy has not presented legislation to do what he talks about. It would be so much more credible. :-)

In the words of Donald Trump, “Ted Cru is a politician. All talk and no action!”

Cruz is a lawyer who pontificates but does not want to be responsible for action or legislation.

Does not matter. He has not tried. Words are cheap. Action takes words. That is why he is a politican and not a businessman. He does not want to actually do anything just talk about it.

Because he’s not done anything yet doesn’t mean he won’t.

At least that’s the sentiment that comes from Trump supporters about how he’ll do all this stuff this his past record doesn’t back up. Why is Cruz not afforded the same attitude?

If I could be half the mind reader that so many around here seem to be, I would make a fortune at County Fairs...

A lot of state controlled public land here in PA. And some beautiful parks and hunting lands.

Unfortunately the voters are largely in big cities and vote Democrat to the detriment of the rest of us.

"Public awareness"?....you honestly expect us to buy that? Trump's popularity is proof that there is no public awareness problem on this issue. The laws are already on the books, and the duty to defend our borders against the largest foreign invasion in the history of the world is written right into the constitution.

As far as your cherry picked CRUZ/CFR North American Union quote, don't forget the EU began as a coal and steel trade agreement which morphed over 40 years into today's debacle. Cruz's wife is arguing in essence in the paragraph you posted that US jobs should be shipped to mexico....just look what that has done to once great Detroit.

We the people are done accepting excuses.

Oh, is that why Trump said that he has no intention of dispensing with Federal lands and that the BLM does a great job?

You are delusional.

It wasn't cherry picked. I gave you the reference asshole. Unions destroyed the American auto industry and you know it. Go sell that crap at DU. I've done more in the last 25 years to undo the Agenda 21 and globalism than anyone on this site. You are selling out to a fascist. Deal with it.
