Russia is about to test-launch a volley of intercontinental ballistic missiles from nuclear-powered submarines, during an exercise to test the combat readiness of its nuclear deterrence forces, according to a report in the newspaper Izvestia.
The missiles will include the new Bulava submarine-launched ballistic missile, which is intended as the future cornerstone of Russia's nuclear capability and is the country's most expensive weapons project.

This is some sort of warning.
Russia has VERY good ICBM tech. And they have a LOT of throw-weight.

I hope they have rescue ships standing by as the subs may sink....

The Russians are modernizing their weapon systems while the US government spends money trying to buy up the country’s supply of small arms ammunition.

It is a threat, sure, but my understanding is that the Bulava has failed MANY, MANY tests before.
FAMOUS for having been a dud.

It has had a very rough development. The last test went flawlessly and the Russian navy was desiring to declare the Bulava operational. I suspect that this is one more test of the Bulava system among all the other operational tests of existing systems. If the Bulava test goes badly all the other launches will cover for the failure. If it goes well the Russians strike fear into the heart of Obola. Comr to think of it, if it goes poorly the Russians still strike fear into the heart of Obola.

The Trident D5 sets the standard for reliability, accuracy, range and throw weight that Russia is just now trying to catch.
But they and their Ohio class boats are old and need to be replaced.
Still, don't doubt their ability to annihilate 100 million people, per boat on patrol.
This SLBM is good enough to act as a first strike weapon with a 50 meter CEP.

Remember the Kursk. Ouch.
A...glowing tribute.
It's a shame. That battle deserves better commemoration: it turned around the Eastern Front, showing for the first time Russian tanks could match the Panzers...even if the lousy commies did steal the suspension from the American Christie, as I once read.
