Billy Joel, The Love Unlimited Orchestra, AND BTO. That’s a lineup I enjoy!

“Love’s Theme’ was also the theme for NBC’s golf coverage for many years.

ROCKUMENTARY: MARCH 5, 1974

#60: Dolly Parton: “Jolene”

She’s been married to the same man for fifty years. She started out as a songwriter, then as a duo with Porter Waggoner, and then she went solo with this haunting tune. Its use of the pentatonic scale makes it sound like an American Indian melody.

I made it home!!!! White knuckle all the way. Sliding stops at every place I had to stop. Spinning wheels trying to get started. I have 4 wheel drive, but I don’t feel like it’s working. Mom is now fed and I can sit down at the computer. I think I don’t need to be going to any of the places on my list for tomorrow.

Tomorrow is the start of Iditarod, and the usual stockpiles of snow have melted. The railroad brought 7 cars of snow down from Fairbanks just so the ceremonial start could take place here. I think you have a 4th Avenue camera and that is where the race starts.

Gives me the shivers to think about your drive home. Glad you made it home safe and sound.
Yep, it sounds like staying home tomorrow would be a good idea.

Cool! I’ll have to check the cam tomorrow to see what it shows. I didn’t realize the Iditarod started tomorrow.

#44: Gladys Knight & the Pips: “Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me”

This began the third and final phase of their career, as they left Motown to work with Jim Weatherly as writer and producer.

#6: David Essex: “Rock On”

I still can’t figure out what Glam was all about. It looked pretty gay to me. He had a whole string of hits in the UK, but this was his only American entry.
