National Poll: Clinton, Sanders Both Top Trump

By Jennifer Agiesta, CNN Polling Director Wed March 2, 2016

Both of the remaining Democratic candidates for president easily top Republican front-runner Donald Trump in hypothetical general election match-ups, according to a new CNN/ORC poll

Clinton tops Trump 52% to 44% among registered voters Washington (CNN)Both of the remaining Democratic candidates for president easily top Republican front-runner Donald Trump in hypothetical general election match-ups, according to a new CNN/ORC Poll.

But Hillary Clinton, who is well ahead in the Democratic race for the presidency, would likely face a stronger challenge should Florida Sen. Marco Rubio or Texas Sen. Ted Cruz capture the Republican nomination for president.

In the scenario that appears most likely to emerge from the primary contests, Clinton tops Trump 52% to 44% among registered voters. That result has tilted in Clinton's favor since the last CNN/ORC Poll on the match-up in January.

But when the former secretary of state faces off with either of the other two top Republicans, things are much tighter and roughly the same as they were in January. Clinton trails against Rubio, with 50% choosing the Florida senator compared to 47% for Clinton, identical to the results in January. Against Cruz, Clinton holds 48% to his 49%, a slight tightening from a 3-point race in January to a 1-point match-up now.

The primary turn-out means nothing. Most of the Dems are assuming Hillary is winning, because the media has been saying she’s inevitable for a year or more now, so they’re not bothering to turn out to vote. They’ll be there in the general.

Some odds things need to be reconciled....

The Republican primaries have record turn outs while the democrats have reduced turn outs. Voters in primaries are registered to vote. Primary voters are motivated. Most primary voters are voting for Trump.

Here is the part that seems at odds with the Clinton beats Trump narrative. You have to ignore all the motivated registered and actively participating voters that overwhelming vote Trump getting beat by an unmotivated group of dems that aren’t showing up at rallies or primaries.

Personally, I would drag my body across broken glass to vote for a ham sandwich rather than let Hillary get elected.

Here's the transcript of Trump lying about this very poll in the debate the other night:
TRUMP: Very nice words, but happens to be wrong. CNN just came out with a poll two days ago that...

RUBIO: ... (INAUDIBLE)

TRUMP: ... That national poll -- excuse me...

RUBIO: ... (INAUDIBLE)

TRUMP: ... The national poll -- a national poll where he's at 15, he's at 14... RUBIO: ... (INAUDIBLE)...

TRUMP: ... And, I'm at 49, so when he says 75 percent, that would mean that 80 percent of the people don't dig you, and I'm back down to 50...

RUBIO: ... Of all the people on this stage, he performs the worst against Hillary Clinton.

TRUMP: Wrong...

I didn’t see how the poll was conducted, but it was probably in urban areas with respondents who have land lines. Once again, the MSM is trying to dictate who the candidates are in the Republican party. I really believe they do this because the voting public is so PO’ed at Washington, they fear Trump will shellac either Democrat candidate, so they try to prop up the weakest Republican.

Here in the Philly area, the young professionals think Trump is an absolute laughing stock. Not that they like any Republicans, but I’ve never seen this much vitriol towards a Republican candidate this early. They’d vote for Donald Duck over Donald Trump.

Goofy thing to say when he gets the largest crowds and wins primaries. There is two anti-Trump factions that hate Trump because their guy is losing. And that’s Cruzbots and the establishment Rubes. But that don’t mean that no one likes him. I like him. He’s electable, but you don’t want him elected. That’s your issue. Not my problem.

The Dems don’t have a contested primary. They all assume Hillary is going to win. Turnout goes way down in a primary when people think it’s already been decided.

True, she’s a bad candidate, but the media will be trying hard to push her over the finish line in the general. Right now the media is happy whether her or Sanders wins so isn’t trying to push the needle.

Trump is without a doubt the least popular, most disapproved Republican among the general public. We’re giving up so many advantages by putting him against Clinton vs. any other candidate. He’s also seen as dishonest, like her, and is the only Republican who has praised her on camera and donated to her in the past. Why throw these sandbags on your candidate?

I haven’t seen more than a couple hundred at a Hillary deal and those were when she had some lib celebrity (Demi Lovato, etc) along for the ride.

Burney does get a lot of college kids, not sure how many vote.

The enemedia has proven time and time again they are the enemy of freedom and of our Constitution.

Who in their right mind would push or believe anything these people have to say or report?

Despite the louse that romney was back in 2012 and now, I thought for sure that with obama record he would win.

Now we know The numbers were skewed(jobs) and benghazi was covered so obama could win.

Why are we so Polls addicted? Its like the weather and you know the weather man is always wrong.

What about 1980, did they not say RR would be sunk?

Well Cruz has such a bad campaign strategy that there is nobody else left but Trump for me. Cruz wrecked himself in the past year enough that he has no shot to win the nomination. So Trump is all that’s left.

Is it possible that now there are more than 47% in the taker group? Because of that can you arrive at the conclusion that more people support the establishment than those of us who are flipping the bird to both parties?

If the national news media reported events like this I don’t think Hillary would be ahead in any polls.

Obama won not once, but twice.

Anyone who thinks that the general election won't be uphill is clinically naive.
