Better Business Bureau: Donald Trump Right on 'A' Rating - Mostly
NBC News ^ | Feb 28 2016 | Alex Johnson

Posted on 03/03/2016 9:19:05 PM PST by VitacoreVision

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's claim Sunday that his self-named university got a "A rating" from the Better Business Bureau is true -- but that's only half the story.

In an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press," Trump defended Trump University, which largely shut down in 2011 and is the subject of multiple lawsuits alleging false marketing for what was essentially an entrepreneurship seminar, not a college.

The course got a "98 percent approval rating and high marks" from participants, Trump said on "Meet the Press," adding: "We have an A from the Better Business Bureau."

Trump repeated the BBB claim twice more in the same response.

The BBB said a statement to NBC News on Sunday that Trump University currently has no rating because "the company is believed to be out of business."

But when it was assessed by BBB Serving Metro New York, the Trump Entrepreneur Initiative -- the name under which Trump University has most recently operated -- had, indeed, gotten the BBB's top rating in the past, it said.

In fact, according to the rating agency, Trump appears to have undersold things -- at times in the past, his "university" had an A-plus rating.

But it's not all good news for the Republican front-runner. The BBB's ratings are "dynamic" and are based on a constantly shifting algorithm, meaning they're changing all the time. And over the years, the company's rating had fallen as far as D-minus -- an assessment Trump chose not to mention Sunday.

Very good post. One item of a “minor” Ahh, detail could also be something that happened across our America some time between the start of a Real Estate School and it’s closing. (2005 to 2011).. A Real Estate implosion. The loss in value at a min. 20% to 30% (depending on the market or property type). Frankly, it’s still in a hole. Look up foreclosures in your area, include pre-foreclosures. Trillions in value lost. With this in mind, what R/E School or course should escape litigation??

Megan Kelly makes about $5000 to $7500 an hour.

She's not that intelligent, nor is she that young nor that good looking anymore. Even with the best that makeup can provide.

During the debate when Trump said that 98% of the participants said they were satisfied someone countered by stating how many were plaintiffs in the class action suit. That’s not necessarily a contradiction. My guess is that many who were initially satisfied were later contacted by class action lawyers and promised big money if they joined the suit.

Just said the same.
Kelly just got into arguments, instead of asking questions. She obviously cannot help herself to attack Trump and she actually got into it with him while bailing Rubio out.

Just read your tagline.
You are right Cruz got less than 50% in his home state.
Only won two primary states, one being his own and a neighbor.
Could not even win a single county in some southern states.
Did not win a single county in the swing state of VA and he keeps harping on about how he can beat Clinton!!

Every question to another candidate was a chance to take shots at Donald. It was so refreshing to have Kasich tell her “I’m not biting”... IOW... Kiss his ass Media Tramp.

The guy who said that is known to hire bucketloads of illegals, which is itself already illegal. He might argue that it is so common he has to do it or he’d go broke, but there is evidence of a preference on his part for the practice. Hence the discussion in the debate about the operation in Florida where Trump offered the excuse that the weather is too hot for Americans to tolerate.

So this is another example of Megyn Kelly accusing a candidate during a debate, only to concede the opposite later?

Is this a repeat of Cruz supporting amnesty, only to admit on her show the next day that he did not?

The only way you will get a good rating from BBB is if you’re a member “in good standing”. If you’re not a member it’s not even guaranteed they will take anyone’s complaint.

All of us needs to go look at Cruz & Rubio work record. You will see 98% of there life is in college and living off TAX PAYERS! Never running a business or making a pay roll. What we need in USA is a business man who can bring jobs back to USA and stop all trash people have to do to start a business in US!

One of these days I’m going to read all the posts before I post. If I had read yours first I could have saved my time.

But the following IS new information”

Every seminar guru has been sued. I’d like to know how many times Tony Robbins has been sued.

A friend of mine tried to get me to join an outfit called FEELIN’ GREAT back during the 80’s depression. I kept asking him what it was about and all he’d say is “You have to come to a meeting to find out.” Well, one night I went to someone house where this “guru” was there hanging around and running his mouth and constantly pulling out a wad of money showing it around. All I found out about the thing was it cost a hundred bucks to join.

I told my friend the easiest way to get a million dollars was to get a million people to give you a dollar each. But with his “friend” he’d only have to find 10,000 idiots to give him a hundred each.

A month or so later I asked him “How’s FEELIN’ GREAT” doin’?”

He said “Aw, screw that crook. He’s in jail.” I laughed my butt off.

The bottom line is there’s a sucker born every minute and some of those suckers are not ashamed to admit they’re suckers so they sue.

Is this article supposed to turn me off Trump? The man is successful, worth billions and obviously all his enemies can find is one hotel in FL. where he hired guests visas.

Cruz and Rubio have never made a dime, never accomplished a thing in their partial Senate terms, have never hired a single person for anything but politics. To top it off, they’ve both actually advocated for massive increases in H1b visas, 500% for Ted.

What a bunch of flaming hypocrites.

Haven't you ever been in a class action lawsuit? It's not a situation where you OPT in, it's a situation where you have to OPT OUT. You are likely to get a postcard or letter telling you something about the case and saying if you DON'T wan't to be INCLUDED in the class action you MUST actively choose not to participate by either sending a letter or going to a website and electing not to be a part of the class. Many people get those and toss them without even reading them, or even understanding them? Others just decide to ride along to see what happens.
