MIAMI Confident just two weeks ago that he could win Ohio and cement his path to the Republican nomination, Marco Rubio now plans to spend almost no time or money there at all. He is resigned to hunting for smaller prizes like Puerto Rico, where he will campaign this weekend.
He talks of driving around the country asking for votes in his pickup truck if it comes to that.
And his senior aides, who once spoke in a self-assured way about the races quickly narrowing to a two-man contest between Mr. Rubio and Donald J. Trump, now privately concede that will never happen. Their most plausible road ahead, if there is one, is through a second or third ballot at the Republican National Convention something that has not happened since 1948.
After a string of middling finishes in the Super Tuesday contests, the Rubio campaigns expectations are catching up with the hard and dire realities of delegate math, a fractured vote and the seemingly unstoppable force that is Mr. Trump.
Now, facing the possibility of a humiliating and likely campaign-ending loss here, where Mr. Trump leads in polls, Mr. Rubio is redirecting his time and resources to Florida, where aides say he will spend most of his time between now and the March 15 winner-take-all primary.

Cruz will apparently be in FL to help divide the vote and secure a Rubio win.
Rubio is going home to Florida like Carson did? Cruz’s campaign has another chance to do an Iowa?

Marco doing it:
Wow. Their internals must be dropping through the floor. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving candidate.
In Spanish no doubt....
Maybe he is hoping to get the other 6 of the 57 states as well.
Is the RUBE putting down foam as his marker or is he using his little hands to help someone else put it down?-)
“Laying Down a Marker”
Peeing on a fireplug? He’s the right height for that.
There were articles earlier in the day that said that Rubio had cancelled campaign rallies in Louisiana and Kentucky. He’s having to campaign in his own state. The last polls I’ve seen from FL have Trump about 20 points ahead, but that was some time ago. Rubio will probably be able to close the gap somewhat, but FL is WINNER TAKE ALL, so there is no consolation prize for coming in 2nd or 3rd.
It maybe just the delegate math that is sending him home, or is there a bombshell on Rubio about to come out?
There were a few stories in December, on FR, that haven’t panned out (yet).
Probably just the math.
I would think the bombshells would have come out by now.
I don’t think little marco could reach the gas peddles on a pickup truck.
Which would make sense for Cruz. Why not get those 99 delegates to go the 3rd place guy instead of to the 1st place guy? OTOH, the only slim hope Cruz has is to be left as the the only non-Trump in the race, so why not let Rubio’s campaign die asap? I guess someone in the Cruz camp has gamed this out.
This guy says he can help him out with that:-)
Interesting link, thanks.
As is oft-said, follow the money. It tells all.
Would make more sense for Cruz to try and run a 1-1 vs. Trump.
Yet, neither he nor his PACs are investing in that trajectory.
