The GOP establishment is making a concerted effort to prevent its own partys frontrunner from clinching the nomination; several prominent Republicans have spoken out against the Republican candidate leading in the polls; and former presidential candidate Herman Cain thinks these in-party efforts to sabotage Donald Trump are absolutely insane.Speaking to Fox host Neil Cavuto Wednesday afternoon, the former CEO of Godfathers Pizza and onetime contender for the Republican nomination blasted the partys establishment for the palace revolt (in Cavutos phrasing) it was waging against the apparent nominee. Cain said:
I believe that the American people through these first group of presidential primaries, they are making a very strong statement by supporting Donald Trump. And for the establishment or these intellectual conservatives to be against Trump and actively working against him, I believe its absolutely insane. One of the reasons that the RRepublican party has suffered some damage control over the past several years in terms of that brand, is because theyre not listening to the people. Donald Trump has been getting all of the hes been winning these elections and I think they ought to stand back and get over it.

Herman Cain bump.
That's because you're not a rich donor bundler making 14 million dollars to raise funds for a candidate who couldn't garner more than 10% support anywhere in the country. Or a sitting Senator who lives like a prince while pissing down the backs of the people who put him in office.
Considering that would leave the Democrats in control of Congress and the Supreme Court...yes, it's a bad thing.
Wanting to put in a President to change things up is reasonable. Wanting for the only organized opposition to Democrats to disappear is not.
And if you're one of those people who thinks there is no difference between the GOP and Democrats, then you're ignorant. There may not be as much difference as you would like, but there still is a difference that matters.
Why would you EVER put Romney on that list?
As much as I hate Trump, it would be a shrewd political move on his part and would clear the field and make him all but invincible if he was to announce that he was selecting Cain as his VP. Another outsider with positive conservative credentials, he is one heck of a speaker, fellow business man and we can’t ignore the fact that he is black, which if not stops at least will deflect the race card when it is being played.
Trump has created a third party WITHIN the Republican Party. There is no other way to describe it.
Good for Cain! Go, Trump!
It seems to me that if the GOPe was smart, they would be seeking ways to get on Trumps favorable side and establish themselves as the ones who will support him and provide for Trumps strength in his weak areas in such a way that Trump will consider them as a pardner to guarantee success in the multi-faceted job of governing into the future.
He will win, and that is why we want him to win.
The Republican party of our parents has degenerated to what is now just the conservative front-end for the corrupt, state sovereignty-ignoring Washington cartel. And Constitution-savvy voters need to destroy this anti-constitutional republic cartel.
I am sure that would be a bad thing.
But Trump is an iffy candidate and I don’t trust him. His history is one of being a pro-abortion, pro-gun control, pro-single payer, pro -amnesty, pro-imminent domain Democrat. He has turned his coat repeatedly. The show under the tent may or may not resemble the show this billionaire carnival barker is selling.
I agree there is a lot of insanity here.
I do not like Trump’s bullying attitude whenever anyone gets under his skin. He needs to learn to shrug it off.
That having been cleared off my plate - if Trump wins, I have no doubt his attitude will mellow out. In fact, on Tuesday evening he sounded a bit more Presidential.
I also know that Donald Trump loves the USA. If and when he wins the presidency, I am certain that he will seek out good people for advisors and for cabinet positions. His experience in business will also give him an edge in ferreting out useless bureaucracies.
It is going to be an interesting year and perhaps an interesting 4 more years too.
But - first we have to defeat Hillary Clinton and her socialist cronies who hate the USA.
I always liked Herman Cain. Ann Coulter said all his accusers were connected to the Chicago political machine.
Romney wasn’t my favorite, and neither was McCain, but I voted for them anyway, given the Democrat alternative. In those days, the MSM could knock off the Republican candidates they liked least. An example is Herman Cain - a black, conservative Republican - Oh No!
But it is still hard to vote for a moderate or liberal Republican - and forget about campaign contributions from me.
There you go again...sticking up for the GOPe.
and won’t you be surprised if he does just that??
“Republicans Who Dont Back Nominee Trump Are ‘Absolutely Insane’”
Carson saying this means he is a winner. McCain and Romney making statements against supporting Trump make them losers.
Too many spin doctors.
We were supposed to be the side ruled by our heads, not just by emotions. And while it may be emotionally satisfying to throw all the bums out, it would be an unmitigated disaster from which recovery would be possible.
Primary guys all you want. But if we lose the Senate, the Second Amendment is likely toast.
He was actively opposed by the establishment of the party. Almost all the ads ran against him were from their talking points.
They stood up and gave public speeches against him. They gave media interviews and wrote editorials.
While he had the delegates to win on the first ballot at the Cow Palace, they even opposed him on the stage and on the floor.
He went into the '64 election with the Republican party working, forcefully, against him.
When the Democrats ran the "Daisy Ad" against him, they didn't just remain silent, they publicly agreed.
That’s true.
