Herman Cain: Republicans Who Don’t Back Nominee Trump Are ‘Absolutely Insane’
Mediaite ^ | 3 Mar 2016 | Sam Reisman

The GOP establishment is making a concerted effort to prevent its own party’s frontrunner from clinching the nomination; several prominent Republicans have spoken out against the Republican candidate leading in the polls; and former presidential candidate Herman Cain thinks these in-party efforts to sabotage Donald Trump are “absolutely insane.”Speaking to Fox host Neil Cavuto Wednesday afternoon, the former CEO of Godfathers Pizza and onetime contender for the Republican nomination blasted the party’s establishment for the “palace revolt” (in Cavuto’s phrasing) it was waging against the apparent nominee. Cain said:

I believe that the American people through these first group of presidential primaries, they are making a very strong statement by supporting Donald Trump. And for the establishment or these intellectual conservatives to be against Trump and actively working against him, I believe it’s absolutely insane. One of the reasons that the RRepublican party has suffered some damage control over the past several years in terms of that brand, is because they’re not listening to the people. Donald Trump has been getting all of the — he’s been winning these elections and I think they ought to stand back and get over it.

Trump will not win the general election.
If he did, the Republican party would be destroyed for decades to come.

“Trump will not win the general election.

I recall the above being said about Reagan too.

President Mitt Romney....wait, he lost to a Marxist didn’t he? Governor Mitt Romney will make a speech today blasting Donald Trump. This is an unprecedented attack by the Republican establishment on the leading Republican candidate for President. These people would rather see Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders or even a third term for Obama before they see President Trump. We should have known those in power would fight to the death to keep that power and now we see it in living color. They will do anything, damage the country, destroy the Republican party, ANYTHING to hang on to what they have in DC. I didn’t vote for Trump but have never been more disgusted with Republican “leadership” than I am today. They should be shoveling garbage with a minimum wage instead of trying to run this country. Except people already doing that wouldn’t want to work next to them. At least garbage workers are making an honest living.

I think what you meant to say is he will destroy the Republican establishment and power base. In that case, yes, I agree, but its hard for me to understand how winning destroys the party while losing to Hillary would be good for the party or the country.

Herman Cain is looking like better Vice President material than Cruz, Rubio, Kasich, and Romney.

Pure emotional hysteric without a shred of truth.

Check the GOP turn out compared to the Dems. Dems are turning out in the lowest numbers in their history.

This damn GOPe needs to be cleaned out if we are ever going to restore America. The Party is so damn corrupt that most of it resembles the communists Democrat Party. Our only hope is Trump and the fight to get him elected President will be very hard. When the communists Democrats, MSM, the GOPe, and Hollywood, and and and and are trying to trash Trump it is a huge mountain to climb.

Trump for President.

I’m not saying Trump is Reagan, but we have heard this panic from the beltway bandits before...

There is a reason Reagan gave his ‘let them go their way’ speech.

There were op-eds saying how he’d start a nuclear war in his first month. They were saying he couldn’t get anything done because both sides hated him.

Then inimitable George Will supported GHWB over Reagan, and didn’t endorse him until Oct of 80.

Trump will not win the general election.

Trump is the ONLY candidate running who has any chance at all of winning. And it's a very strong chance.

If he did, the Republican party would be destroyed for decades to come.

It's my sincere wish that this party of privileged frauds is killed permanently whether Trump wins or loses. The GOP is the ultimate insiders club, with nothing but disdain for the voters who gave them their power. It needs to be replaced with a party that will genuinely put the interests of America first. Period.

Are you old enough to remember Barry Goldwater? The establishment mistreated him so badly we ended up with LBJ and the Vietnam War. One of those anti-Goldwater jerks was George Romney. others were Nelson Rockefeller, Bill Scranton, Both Richard Nixon and Ike had the decency to keep out of that mess and endorse Goldwater after he won the nomination.Nixon said, on the eve of the convention, that anyone who now who tries to hurt Goldwater will also damage the Republican party.
