2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney will be delivering a major speech Thursday denouncing Donald Trump.
FORMER RNC CHAIRMAN MICHAEL STEELE: I don't know why they think this is going to work in the first place. I don't know who they think this is going to influence. Keep in mind, Mitt Romney lost 3 million Republicans, who didn't even bother to show up and vote for him because they did not support his campaign.

The GOPe & Romney are not trying to influence anybody by this staged speech. They are deliberately supplying the Democrats with clips & soundbites to use against Trump in the general election (should he win the nomination).
And again they reveal themselves to be in the tank for the Democrats.
For those who refused to admit that both McCain in 2008 and Romney in 2012 were also in the tank and opposed Obama like the Generals opposed the Globetrotters, ask yourselves: Why didn't Romney and the GOPe fight Obama as desperately as they are fighting Trump?

It had better work that way in the interest of YOUR candidate.

If even the slow-witted milquetoast Mike Steele thinks that your speech is worthless, you must be truly a lost cause. At this stage, criticism from Romney will probably boost support for Trump.

Irony.
Trump and Romney are running the same damn campaign!
Billionaires in favor of Socialized Medicine... who will never do anything about ObamaCare.
With Trump it’s worse... because part of TrumpCare will be supporting Planned Parenthood and their good works.

I hope he pounds Romney into dust. That may be done IMMEDIATELY at tonight's debate.

hat is exactly what I am doing: giving Trump another look. I do so in good will but with reservations. While I and others are trying to sort it out, SOME (by no means all) of Trump's supporters feel compelled to try to have a triumphal parade on our political graves. I am a big boy. This is not my first rodeo. I accept that I do not always win. That does not mean I like to lose. I sort of lost being a state chairman for Reagan in 1976 but not really because our war on Ford elected Jimmuh Peanut and led to two elections of Reagan and the only nomination defeats the GOP-E has suffered in the last 50 years and with Goldwater's nomination being the only other in the party's history.
In any event, thank you for your kind words. Politeness is good strategy. People like to be asked for their vote. You understand that. God bless you and yours!

Im sure the GOPe will think its just swell.
I expect Medved and Hewitt will be in ecstasy today. The cheap thrills will evaporate soon enough, though. As Trump said, Romney's a "failed candidate". The voters have had enough of that. It's time for real action to take back America.

In full disclosure, I've said some unkind things about othe candidates. I regret them now. Well, except those I said about Jeb.
We do need to pull together. As Mitt will tell us, "It's a time for choosing."
I don't think that is going to work out as he is planning. But, we'll see.

IMHO, I personally did not get the same read from “The Toll” as you are suggesting but I’m usually blinded by the sheer frustration of the position that I find myself and my family in. It is maddening and we all used to be so proud to be considered “upper class”. A label hard won and started by my father and uncles who never complained but worked hard and had a genuine love of America. I honor them.
I’m calling for Mr. Patience and Mr. understanding to sweep in with a bag full of magic pixie dust and fix this shit and they all look like Trump to me.
Just sayin

I remember when I first heard Trump and decided that I'd vote for him... I said, "I'm voting for Trump even if they find dead babies buried under his house."
Because I knew that all hell was going to break loose and every smear tactic possible would be used.
(And, it wouldn't be proven false until after the election)This has become more true than I really thought it would.
A lot of politicians will not recover from their attacks on Trump.
Romney couldn't bring himself to say one bad thing against Obama...what is wrong with this guy?
If Trump is not elected, I will never vote again.

This is a direct personal insult to the voters. Why can’t the GOP see it that way. Romney says WE are bamboozled by Trump? There is only one group of people that is bamboozled, and it is the GOP-e.

Allowing Romney into this is nuts. I wonder if the geniuses in the GOPe realize this is going to backfire and make Trump even stronger?

How Romney and the establishment can’t understand this is astounding to me but can only be explained by ego and desperation.

Disagree. Imagine Steele as Trump’s HUD Secretary. He’d go on TV and liberal heads would explode. LOL.

Herman Cain was livid about the Romney stunt this morning. Remember he got railroaded too by Romney in 2012.
I expect Rush to laugh it off and play both sides.
It is no longer time for both sides. It’s Trump or the Establishment

It will. It’s counter-intuitive. It never ceases to amaze me the level of inability to think counter-intuitively with these people. That and factoring in natural human behavior.
