Michael Steele Dumbfounded By Romney Speech:"I Don't Know Who They Think This Is Going To Influence"
RCP ^ | Tim Hains

2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney will be delivering a major speech Thursday denouncing Donald Trump.

FORMER RNC CHAIRMAN MICHAEL STEELE: I don't know why they think this is going to work in the first place. I don't know who they think this is going to influence.

Keep in mind, Mitt Romney lost 3 million Republicans, who didn't even bother to show up and vote for him because they did not support his campaign.

Trump could make one simple statement that would counter and sink Romney’s speech:

TRUMP: “Get the transcript, Candy!”

[That one exchange in the 2nd presidential debate in 2012 sank Romney’s ship.]

You and other TRUMP!!! groupies should learn the valuable lesson of magnanimity in victory and defiance in defeat. The interests of your candidate and, more importantly, of our civilization demand it. Give the anti-Cruz obsession a rest (not just you but all of you who support The Donald) if you want the votes of Cruz supporters. Politics does not REQUIRE rudeness no matter what The Donald and his supporters may imagine. If we have to swallow this pill, try not to maximize the degree of difficulty.

As soon as victory is obtained, kindness will follow. Until then, any opposition is in bed with the Party and will be attacked. It’s very simple, do what’s right for the country and get out of the frontrunners way or get slammed for running a failed campaign based on ego alone.

I’m sure even to most Cruz supporters Trump looks positively Reganesque compared to Romney. All Romney is doing today is making the “NY Liberal” look more conservative than Romney. Thanks, Mitt. LOL.

At that moment in the debate, I screamed at the Mitt:
You idiot, you just list the election.
Then, in the after debate analysis, Britt Hume said Mitt’s unaggresive tone would appeal to voters, and I hopes maybe he was right.
He wasn’t....I was!

I’m still very much a Cruz guy, but I will get fully behind Donald Trump if he wins the Republican nomination. Anymore, I find the GOP Establishment every bit as despicable as the Dems and I’m in favor of supporting anyone who can make the Washington elitists’ heads collectively explode.

I'll tell you who, those who already hate Trump. I've got to admit I love watching dem steam and stew!-) Donald Trump’s speaking slot at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturdayis prompting an acrimonious backlash from the conservative critics desperately trying to mount a last-ditch campaign to block the GOP presidential front-runner from winning the party’s nomination. A top aide to Trump rival Marco Rubio has accused CPAC organizers of being in the tank for Trump and clearing the way for his acceptance into mainstream conservatism, while an anti-Trump super PAC is pressuring organizers to rescind their invitation to the surging GOP front-runner. Potentially complicating matters further, sources tell POLITICO that Trump has made multiple donations ― including a $50,000 check last year ― to the American Conservative Union, the group that organizes CPAC. That dwarfs the amounts donated in recent years by allies of Trump’s rivals, all of whom are also scheduled to speak at the annual gathering, and seems likely to fuel already percolating suspicions among his opponents that the ACU has its thumb on the scale for Trump.

You're right. I hope you'll give Mr. Trump another look.

I know he'd welcome your support.

I am not Mormon either...just do not like that kind of thing. I am guilty of lowering the level of discussion via my anger sometimes so I am not free “of sin” on these boards. But, this time I did feel I was on the right side...

God bless you and yours as well friend, and thank you for the kind words.

Steele has been saying tons of god things lately. He’s a very strong Trump supporter and has been for many months.

Affirmative action is good just not that good. The “Steele Man” does not have a path to the “Trump House”; not now, not ever.

Of course that is just my humble opinion, but I think Trump has shown that he prefers the company of bright, young, pretty, intelligent black ladies and for what it is worth .. he gets my vote.

I am not running anything. I do not think it too much to ask that you pay some respect to those who, in good faith and as a matter of principle have advanced candidates other than yours but must now consider bowing to your candidate's effective campaign. I am quite used to speaking my mind (often against The Donald) but, don't look a gift horse (me and many others) in the mouth. The last part of your post is, no doubt, unintentionally ironic, but ironic nonetheless. "Any opposition is in bed with the Party and will be attacked" is a perfect prescription to cause Shrillery's election by default.

Count your blessings. Don't curse them. And don't alienate those of us who you will later need and who are not as enthusiastic for your secular messiah as you are. Insulting us is a strange way to seek our votes.

From what I gather, the Trump money is the real green and is part of his wealth that is the direct result of “good old American hard work”.

Now I would not turn down the easy money that can be gathered, you know, like pushing paper and giving speeches about Goldman Sachs; I admit I’m weak! But somewhere in the big picture Trump is really an amazing man. A builder, a provider, a producer and most definitly a leader.

I do not insult any Cruz supporters. I like Ted. However it’s not a one way street. You can’t go around for months calling people names like “Trumpster” and “Trumpkin” like a two year old and not get scalded in return. It simply doesn’t work that way.
