Even as major Republican donors coalesced Wednesday around a last-ditch effort to halt Donald Trump's march toward the GOP presidential nomination, resignation was setting in among some onetime Trump critics.
"It is too late," Republican media strategist Alex Castellanos, who had unsuccessfully urged top GOP contributors to back an anti-Trump campaign earlier in the cycle, wrote in an email. He went on:
"If our self-indulgent Republican party establishment had really wanted to prevent a takeover of the GOP, they should not have gorged on political power while they failed to do anything to prevent the decline of the country. Our leaders could have led. They could have done more than say 'no' to Democrats while offering no alternative."
"They should have stood up for the change Donald Trump is bringing now but they didn't."
Now, Trump has earned the nomination. He won it, fair and square and we should respect that. Donald Trump whipped the establishment and it is too late for the limp GOP establishment to ask their mommy to step in and rewrite the rules because they were humiliated for their impotence.
"If Trump is going to be our nominee, as I believe he is, it is our mission to support Trump and make him the best nominee and president possible."

Whoever gets a majority of the delegates gets the nomination. Any attempt to override the nomination process should be considered void ab initio. The party wanted Trump to sign an agreement saying that Trump would abide by the nomination process. Well that's a two-way street.
Rally around Trump or it is see the Dem in the WH, anyone who fails in this is not a conservative but a sellout.
So the bunch of you going to vote for the DemoRat. If I said what I want to, I would be banned here.
Media DeathStar ... yep and Trump is the only one able to defeat them/it!
I love it. Go Jim!
Barely? My God girl, you're delusional. The only reason Ted Cruz has anything to show is because he won his home state of Texas, which has a lot of delegates.
Let's see Cruz duplicate that feat in other delegate-heavy states.
As things now stand, Trump (319) has over 40% more delegates than Cruz does (226). That's right, if you take Cruz's delegate count and add 40%, it's still less than Trump's.
That gap is only going to widen, and Cruz doesn't have any more "home states" to milk.
You're is as much denial as the GOP Establishment is...
I can respect someone deciding they cant vote for Trump on principle.
But if he wins this fair and square, I cannot respect someone supporting slimeball knee-in-the-groin tactics to try and take it away from him.
And that's it. That's why so many of us are furious at these limp wristed, greedy, selfish, do-nothing Republicans.
They took the Impeachment of the lawless, illegal, evil, racist, Muslim, lying, homosexual, narcissistic, treasonous bastard Obama "off the table."
They said if we gave them the House they would stop Obama. We gave them the House. All they did was enact Sequestration with a formula that demanded half the cuts came from the military, which had already been voted by them to be cut (and deeply) twice before under Obama. This decimated the US military. To make matters worse, Obama and the Democrats demanded that Entitlements and Welfare not be touched or cut a dime, and the GOPe agreed!
They asked for the Senate, and said if they had it, they would stop Obama and hold him accountable. We gave them the Senate. They then did nothing but enrich themselves while doing nothing to stop Obama and his agenda.
The GOPe and the Democrats in Congress have become wealthy through Insider Trading - that is their main motivation for power.
Everyone knows it. They are fearful about being found out.
Congress Tells Court That Congress Cant Be Investigated for Insider Trading
- Our military has been destroyed, and the retirement, health care, and benefits of our warriors and their families have been cut or are under assault, while the Takers portion only increases. Our enemies know this, and global war is on the horizon. Invasion of our territories, or even an attack on the homeland, is now much more likely
- Our borders now no longer exist, and the Illegal Invasion continues unabated
- Our economy is in a Depression; with real unemployment at close to 20%; the Middle Class is almost wiped out
