One that dates to 1880 makes adultery or couples living together outside of marriage illegal. ...

So they want to legalize duels in SC at the same time as legalizing adultery.

Certainly were. Not just thanks to Marx and Engels putting out bizarre literature a few decades earlier than the advent of such laws as these.

I figured the title referred to the ex-President.

"Bill Clinton repeals outdated laws on sex, Sunday work, dancing."

It sort of goes together ... Legalize dueling, AND legalize a highly likely provocation for a duel.

In 1989, I lived in Virginia. The blue Laws were done away with...and IIRC, plain, old fornication was no longer a crime.

Didn’t think of those as fencing weapons.

Also funny how in Japanese, the word “katana” is spelled with the same Han character as “knife” in Mandarin.

I don’t see how these laws are “outdated”. Unpopular, maybe, but not outdated. An outdated law would have to do with say, minimum wage for the guys who maintain outdoor gaslamps, when there are no gas lamps, and never will be again due to changes in city lighting. All of these social values on adultery and dueling can easily go in either direction. I’m against dueling, but a a serious libertarian could come up with an argument as long as there is no coercion (other than honor) between the parties.

"One that dates to 1880 makes adultery ... illegal."

Nikki's probably going to sign that one if it gets to her desk.

So you are for laws that make it illegal to work or dance on a Sunday?
