Students at two Midwest high schools recently hurled Trump-themed insults at Latino students, using the presidential candidate's anti-immigration rhetoric as inspiration for repulsive basketball game chants.
Fans at Andrean High School in Merrillville, Ind. Friday held a cutout showing Trump's face and chanted "Build a wall! Build a wall!" during a basketball game against Bishop Noll Institute, which has many Latino students highlighting Trump's pledge to erect a barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Four days earlier, students at the predominantly-white Dallas Center-Grimes High School in Iowa chanted "Trump! Trump!" during a basketball game against Perry High School, which has a more diverse student population.
Latino activists believe the real-estate mogul's name which has been affixed to casinos, clothing labels, golf courses, high-rise buildings and wine bottles now represents hate speech.
"People who have racist viewpoints have been able to successfully use 'Trump' as a code-phrase for derogatory, racist statements," said Joe Enriquez Henry, the National Vice President of the Midwest Region for the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the nation's oldest and largest Hispanic organization.
"Somebody who's angry and wants to say something in a negative way to Latinos at a demonstration or when their team is losing can say 'Trump' or 'USA,'" Henry added.
Andreans student section settled on a patriotic theme for Friday's game, donning items such as flag bandanas and Captain America T-shirts. Some students dressed as TV anchors on a mock TV set for "ESPN Deportes," the Spanish-language channel. One student held an oversized Fathead cutout showing Trump's face. After the students chanted "Build a wall! Build a wall!" the rival fans responded, "You're a racist!"

It’s going to be a fun 8 years!
Indiana. Part of Reconquista. Stolen from Mexico during the Mexican War.
Are American youth beginning to stir? Lord I hope so. I feared that the love, honor and reverence we once felt towards our nation was dead.
We should simply state this is fair given Latinos waving Mexican flags or booing the American anthem.
Hmmmm... I think all the current GOP candidates, other than Kasich, have now sworn to secure our borders and deport the illegals. It’s almost unanimous. Go Cruz, Go Rubio, Go Carson, Go Trump!! Secure the borders!!
the media is concerned! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fusREMo4K9w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fusREMo4K9w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzW-oTmaqjw
The kids are beginning to listen. Good.
‘Bout time Americans started giving the anti-American invaders hell. I’m sick to death of everyone walking around with muzzles on, in their own country.
The Trump Effect in action, baby!
"Activists" always have to find something to be outraged about. It's what they do for a living.
That they stole from the Indians but never seem to remember that part.
And, how many of them are lying?
Latino’s are of Caucasian decent. Such things aren’t “rayciss”. Bigoted...maybe.
To attribute the chant “build a wall” to the Trump campaign is, on its face bigoted vis-à-vis Trump. Might the Merrillville citizens be simply tired of providing life-sufficiency to those who (a) break (federal) law and (b) claim residency simply thru their existence on Errf?
Notice there is no pictures of the other side of the court. I will bet dollars to donuts there were Mexican flags galore as the illegals and anchor babies love to rub our noses in the fact that they take advantage of Americans at every turn.
Perry, Iowa does have a lot of illegals, thanks to a big Tyson’s pork plant there.
Insults at a basketball game? Who could have ever imagined??
And if these Latino students are here legally why would they be offended by a reference to protecting the border?
Because Latino extremists think that the southwestern United States belongs to Mexico, it is all theirs, and building a wall is an assault on their freedoms.
And too many of them associate with Mexico over the US in terms of pride, so American pride is offensive to them. That’s how you got kids suspended for wearing US flag T-shirts on Cinco de Mayo in American schools, as incitement of violence.
