Trump Admits Times Report, Says Status Of Illegals Is “Negotiable”

For months now, Donald Trump has spouted the same line on immigration, promising to build a border wall and deport people here illegally. Last night, he admitted he would not deport the 11 million people in the United States illegally....

Trump appeared on Sean Hannity's show.... Here's the key transcript:

"We had a board meeting [at the New York Times], it was off-the-record, suddenly they leak it..." Trump said.

"They said it's negotiable on the wall," Hannity said...

"By the way it is negotiable. Things are negotiable," Trump said.

Trump was quick to add that the negotiation does not include nixing the idea altogether.

"Building it? Not negotiable."

"Would it be negotiable about the 11 million?" Hannity pressed. "Maybe let some people stay if they register in a period of time?"

"I would say this," Trump added, "we will work out some system that's fair, but we either have a country or we don't. We need a border. We need a wall."

Here's Rubio at the CNN debate last week:

before we do anything on immigration, we are going to secure the border. And, that's not just the physical border with Mexico, it's Visa overstays. That's 45 percent of the problem right there.

It also has to do -- that's why we need e-verify, and entry-exit tracking system, and so-forth. And, until that happens, we're not doing anything else. And then we'll see what the American people are willing to support";

Those are exactly the same positions - build the wall, then figure out what to do with the people already here. There is literally no daylight between the Rubio and Trump positions on immigration.

Yawn. Attacking Trump won’t change the fact that the other candidates have nothing to offer.

Same thing that Cruz, and even RUBIO says... yes, we will work out a system. CRUZ will not play touch back.

I have never said that if someone is here illegally they should stay, and neither has Cruz. What we are looking for is an estimated 12 million people among nearly 400 million people, where the large majority of them are entitled to the protections of the constitution.

Are you willing to give up your constitutional rights, to get rid of an illegal alien. One that will either commit a crime like parking violations, robbery, shoplifting, gang violence or other crimes which usually predate escalation to rape and murder.
Cruz is saying if we arrest illegals for any reason, they get deported not released. The illegal that killed Kate Steinle was arrested and released on multiple lesser offences.

The reality for those who don’t want to sound as dumb as lodi90 does right now is that Trump followed Cruz and used the words “Wall”, “Great Big”, “Beautiful”, and drumroll “Revolving Door”.
Trump also want’s to “Let the good ones back in”.
Cruz doesn’t think lawbreakers deserve to be called “Good ones”.

Cruz was making public policy statements while trump was making publicity statements.

That links says nothing about anybody EXCEPT the NYT staff being in the meeting.

If you think otherwise, please post a quote.

Thanks in advance...

But their negotiations suck

They tell us one thing and do the opposite

They can’t even TRY to get something for us

They just roll over just as long as their big $$$$ donors get what they want, screw us

Trump, if he can get something for us, still better then a big pile of nothing that we have been getting

I find it amazing it took the establishment a couple days to unite against Trump and blast him with everything they have. But after 7 years of Obama, with both the house and the senate, they claim to be powerless to do ANYTHING against him because they don’t want him to be mad at them

Give me a break

I am tired of voting between a cat turd or a dog turd each election cycle. I don’t care if Trump is a liberal, conservative, socialist, whatever, the past 30 years have taught me that those labels mean nothing anyways. Just a way to divide us. I don’t care how pure Donald Trump is, I don’t care anymore, it doesn’t matter anymore. If the Republicans could not stop Obama on anything, they are either IN ON IT or are totally incompetent

So why should I continue to support the GOPe? Because Donald Trump might be a KKK supporting crazy guy with odd hair?

You forgot a few things DoughtyOne...

No Welfare
Enforce laws on businesses that hire illegals
Utilize E-Verify to track down those overstaying Visa’s

When the money dries up they will leave. Those who don’t will eventually get caught doing something illegal like applying for a driver’s licence or registering to vote.

Actually he’d be called a man of principles-

B$ Neither the Cruzers or the MSM will ever say anything complimentary about Trump unless they can attach the same compliment to their chosen one.

Rush just had a conniption because a caller just called in to tell him he is from Texas but will never vote for Cruz again. Rush is perplexed because Cruz is the most honorable man in the race. :)

Priceless.

The reality is your boy Cruz is campaigning like a liberal Democrat with his smears and innuendo directed at Trump. The reality is Ted Cruz is hysterically marching in lock step with the GOP today and against Trump. Ted Cruz has been called home to his beloved GOPe. Embrace it. This the Ted Cruz you love.

You can’t reason with them. You can’t apply logic or even Trump’s own words to convince them. Their minds are stuck in stone or cement. Nothing penetrates. No light. No truth. No facts. No reality. You know...kind of like how it is when you’re trying to reason with a liberal leftie.

my point was that if he had been a principled man who held to, and fought for conservative principles for a logn time, had a proven track record, then people could trust him more- I wasn’t commenting on cruz supporters- they are dedicated to their man only- I’m talking more about undecideds and maybe even some decided who are concerned about their own candidate at present- Conservatives would more gravitate towards him if he had been- unfortunately he has a history of supporting extreme liberals- or at least the appearance of it-

It's like the Limbaugh Theorum. Trump is pretending to be anti-establishment when nothing is further from the truth. He pretends to be against the very same things he has supported. He has donated to the worst establishment aholes in both parties. He supports big government and even bigger government, just like they do. He's one of em. You've been fooled and are being played.

Limbaugh is the GOPe mouthpiece

Sorry I don’t listen to him

Limbaugh would want you to think that way

If Trump was one of them, they would be doing everything they could to get Trump elected. Not trying to destroy him at every turn.

Your theorem has just been disproven

Trump supported that establishment ahole Ted Cruz.... So maybe you have a point after all

I'm a Cruz guy here to dispel your delusion.

Things I can compliment Trump on that I can't compliment Cruz on:

Trump is the head of a Company that, in the US, employs roughly 80% of his workers from the US.

Trump has built a brand out of his name that allows him license it to other companies.

Trump can thrill a crowd like no one since Obama.

Trump has found a way to say one thing one day, another the next, and still have people believing in what he said on the day they heard him. It is an amazing thing.

Trump has an incredible ability to self promote. I admire it. It's a skill everyone needs but, like in my case, they usually have too much humility and conscience. It's like bragging but on a level that is unmatched.
