For months now, Donald Trump has spouted the same line on immigration, promising to build a border wall and deport people here illegally. Last night, he admitted he would not deport the 11 million people in the United States illegally....
Trump appeared on Sean Hannity's show.... Here's the key transcript:
"We had a board meeting [at the New York Times], it was off-the-record, suddenly they leak it..." Trump said."They said it's negotiable on the wall," Hannity said...
"By the way it is negotiable. Things are negotiable," Trump said.
Trump was quick to add that the negotiation does not include nixing the idea altogether.
"Building it? Not negotiable."
"Would it be negotiable about the 11 million?" Hannity pressed. "Maybe let some people stay if they register in a period of time?"
"I would say this," Trump added, "we will work out some system that's fair, but we either have a country or we don't. We need a border. We need a wall."
Here's Rubio at the CNN debate last week:
before we do anything on immigration, we are going to secure the border. And, that's not just the physical border with Mexico, it's Visa overstays. That's 45 percent of the problem right there.It also has to do -- that's why we need e-verify, and entry-exit tracking system, and so-forth. And, until that happens, we're not doing anything else. And then we'll see what the American people are willing to support";
Those are exactly the same positions - build the wall, then figure out what to do with the people already here. There is literally no daylight between the Rubio and Trump positions on immigration.

Did you read what trump said? He said the wall was not negotiable, but how the wall would be built would be negotiable like how high it is and what materials to use
Let’s see. Trump is being accused here of wanting to emulate Obama by using Executive Orders to do what he wants to do, the Dictator / Hitler Argument.
Now he is saying that he has to Negotiate with the Legislative Branch to get things done and he is being accused of being a Hypocrite.
Of course, he does not back down from securing the Border and Building a Wall, but he is talking about what is required to repatriate the Illegal Invaders without being accused of being a Dictator / Hitler.
I can’t wait until this Primary crap is over and done with.
No, this was a meeting with the NYTimes editorial board. No one else from the media (including BuzzFeed) was there.
Of course how the wall will be built will be negotiated to make it the most effective and less costly
You can sit there and suppter all you want, but Ted Cruz sais he wouldn’t seek out illegal aliens to deport them.
FACT!
This means all the problematic illegals are left to commit crimes until they are caught. This I addressed.
And for the conceptually impaired, people don’t generally get caught the first time. So what Ted is saying is, go ahead illegal alien criminals, commit as many crimes as you can, because once you’re caught, then I’ll act like I really care.
FACT!
Yes, NOOB, as you say, a one-foot wall built by Trump (Peace be upon Him) would be a major advance as your messiah “negotiates” our hopes & dreams away from His “Art of the Deal” starting point.
Since Congress has long since given the Commander-in-Chief the power to exclude any & all groups HE deems to be a danger to our Republic and your messiah does not need to negotiate for that power, are we safe to assume that on day one of the Trump presidency Trump will EXCLUDE ALL MUSLIM IMMIGRANTS PER HIS PROMISE? Or will that promise evaporate also?

guess you forgot to read the whole thing huh? Common of GOPe backers....
You can count on his supporters to hear what they want. Within days of his deporting them all he was yeah, let’s spend billions to round them up and we will the good ones back in, which means pretty much all of the them. His website doesn’t even say he will deport illegals anymore except the criminals.
He literally cannot do most of what he says he will and why should he? He would make his liberal friends very unhappy.
Negotiations have to take place, it is the nature of business and politics.
Sorry, we can not get anything done with a 3rd graders view of the world
Trump basically said he is not a king and he has to work with congress to get things done.
OR Do we want him to be a king and just do a ton of executive orders like Obama has been doing?
Do we want him to follow the constitution or not?
1) Build the wall/fence.
2) Deport the illegal's, providing a legal path back for immigrants who would strengthen America.
I too will vote for Trump...but I DO NOT believe it.
Regardless of whether Trump is sincere in getting this built or not...whether he is sincere in deporting them...OR NOT...I DO NOT believe it will happen. I see NO WAY the Senate or the House will muster the stones to get either done...to pass any legislation that would land on his desk for him to sign to make this happen.
There is no way the current batch of GOP-E-DEM is going to allow any legislation doing this to go forward. I can actually envision a bi-partisan legislation with veto-proof override passing both chambers PROHIBITING him from doing it.
Don't worry. Trump has already said, "Im very capable of changing to anything I want to change to.
Mexico will probably end up paying for the whole thing - even rounding up the Mexican Citizens who invaded the USA.
Move the border south and grab their land. Then you can build a proper impenetrable border.
Also, take Cancun and put it in a lockbox for good measure!
It just says what we know;
Trump apparently said something off the record than is different than what he's willing to say publicly.
People in attendance have leaked the gist of what he said.
He's mad that news of his two-facedness was leaked.
Cruz and Rubio have called on him to authorize release of the recording.
What new piece of information am I supposed to glean from the article? That Lou Dobbs "theorizes" there was collusion?
Just wait and see what else. He has no principles.
Trump is as slippery as a used car salesman. I just don’t trust his soothing words. “It runs great! After you install an engine, you will be a success! If you don’t buy this car, you’re a nobody! Be like me! I’m successful! It is time for action, power, knowledge, success! Success! Success!”
Eisenhower deported 6 million.
No, how did we deport illegals before oh high and mighty Trump got in and decided what was right?
Answer, being limited by the fourth amendment, you now that old paper in Washington that Trump disagrees with except when it helps him, it states that you cannot be arrested or have any legal action taken with out a reasonable amount of evidence that proves you should be.
While you may say that these are illegals, so they don’t get these rights, I would like to ask how can you tell the difference between the two. Until you investigate and find out you cannot.
Cruz’s position is as follows
1. Finish building the fencing and walls already approved to be built.
2. Triple the border patrol
3. increase the fixed and rotary aricraft
4. Upgrade the entry exit program
5. Institute an E-verify system
6. Then while he is doing all of that continue deportation operations and actually enforce the laws we have
7. Temporarily halt the H1B visa program, and audit and reform the abuses. That way it can be used for the intended purpose, and not just for cheap labor
If Trumpy is elected..... some day the wailing and gnashing of teeth will be epic here on free republic.
Very candid response. This is what the Republican leadership has been saying all song. We have the responsibility to govern, and try to make government work.
But wait, isn’t this what you hate about “the establishment”?
New boss, same as the old boss, as the song goes. We don’t need Trump for this. He’s a wing nut, and a liberal one. Let’s get at least a RINO to negotiate for us, or maybe even a conservative to do so.

Trump: I'm one of the world's very conservative people but I have to tell you, on a human basis, how do you throw somebody out that's lived in this country for 20 years?
Trump: We have to show some compassion. We just can't throw everybody out.
