Ross Douthat is sorry for comparing the Trump campaign to a scene from “The Dead Zone”
New York Times columnist Ross Douthat apologized on Thursday for joking that Donald Trump’s presidential campaign will end with an assassination attempt.
On Wednesday, Douthat tweeted, “Good News guys I’ve figured out how the Trump campaign ends” accompanied by a link to a clip from 1983 movie “The Dead Zone.”
After his tweet received a torrent of backlash, Douthat issued a mea culpa via Twitter, saying he “can see why” readers were offended.
A lot readers were offended by my Trump/"Dead Zone" joke from yesterday. I can see why, and I've deleted the tweet. Apologies.

Ross Douchehat, what a pathetic little man. It’s too bad the Secret Service didn’t come and arrest him for conveying a threat on the life of a presidential candidate. I remember in 2008, someone hanged 0bama in effigy, and was arrested for it. Still in 2008, someone hanged Palin in effigy repeatedly and the media just egged that behavior on, and no one was arrested or even questioned about it.
They should be fired.

I have a very low opinion of NYT journos as a whole, but I would’ve thought Douthat wouldn’t stoop this low.
What if someone had actually done the deed and then told the assembled press at the jailhouse door that “Ross Douthat told me to do it”?

So Douthat says ,”how’s this: ‘apologies’”?
And they say “good enough for us!”
In effect it already has. Remember the shooter at the Family Research Council who was “inspired” by the Southern Poverty Law Center?
It doesn’t surprise me the least. I had lived in Minnesota for ten years amongst lefties who thought destruction of property and other violence were legitimate forms of political expression. This is why I believe that the current polarization (done by the Left by Alinsky methods) will lead to a bloody civil war. Not if. When.
Does anybody think that would be enough if he had joked about assassinating Mrs. Clinton?
I notice this “apology” comes when the NYT is floating BS about what Trump said in an off the record on the record meeting back in January. Interesting.
No one believes him except his fellow liberal elites and they loved it.
