The timing is interesting but of course the NYT knows Rush will absolutely hammer Hillary and support the Republican candidate and they want to diminish him.
I’d wager the NYT has scarfed down a few Schumer steaks themselves.
I’m just not shocked that politicians try to curry favor with members of the media. And I’m not shocked that any of them listen to what those jack wagons have to say. It’s not a secret secret.

Rush has lost his honesty factor. Once that happens it is hard to get it back. He can no longer say “do not doubt me”.
Rush obvioulsly has an agenda that we all do not know about.
It is behind the scenes, but it is there nonetheless.

I’m a Rush platinum member
I had the opportunity, several years ago, to see Rush in some unguarded moments. My observations showed me that he is a flawed individual, and I have listened to him with that in mind ever since.
More than anyone else, Roger Ailes is responsible for the success Rush has enjoyed over the years. I give Rush credit for remaining loyal to Roger.
However, unlike the “early days” of his show, Rush is rapidly becoming his own parody. Perhaps this episode will help him focus on a little show rehab.
BTW I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he announces his retirement in 2017...
