What a perfect storm for the quintessentially conservative candidate, Sen. Ted Cruz, a freedom lover's one-man dream team. He's not just an ideal constitutional conservative; he is perfectly situated to capitalize on the anti-establishment sentiment in the GOP electorate because he has been in the trenches, proving he'll fight the insiders from within.
Then in rides brash businessman Donald Trump -- a wildcard of a political maverick -- and sucks all the anti-establishment oxygen out of the politisphere. He apparently has just the right personality, just the right bluster, just the right bravado, and more than enough money and moxie to mesmerize the disenfranchised class -- those voters who have seen no evidence that any politician, once elected, has any intention of addressing their concerns.
But is their anger skewing their vision and sabotaging their judgment? They seem to have rallied around Trump because he's convinced them he would close our borders, rebuild our military, create jobs and, overall, "make America great again."
But would he? And even if he would, would he inflict other damage?

Whenever you read the words "brash businessman Donald Trump" you know you are dealing with someone who is not playing fair and doesn't seem to understand why Trump is appealing.
David Limbaugh backed Romney. David Limbaugh can go suck a squirrel.
Tell me what I should think? Cram it Clown
Another 2015 sign-up pontificating instead of sitting back and listening & learning.
“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then they beg you, then you win.”
you are spot on!!
Please drop the senator that uses the IRS as a weapon
Well, if Cruz or Rubio had basic credibility, they might be seen as capable of winning in November and making change.
But they have no credibility, and are unlikely to win in November. So anger isn’t clouding my judgment. In fact, I think I see things clearer now than I did this time in 2012.
Any word on David Limbaugh’s brother’s car valet? I heard that he’s CFR.
I’m voting for Cruz Tuesday. He’s a terrific conservative, would be great at the job.
But if he fails, and it looks like he will, he has only his own campaign to blame.
It was a tough row to start with and got harder, but there is no excuse but his own choices.
Stick a fork in it, Dave.
I still listen to Rush and think the Limbaugh’s are fine folks.
Their problem is that they are intellectual conservatives, brilliant people who spent their lifetime supporting and leading the Republican Party infrastructure in their part of Missouri.
They still associate the GOP with “conservatism” while I equate the GOP with ‘talk about conservatism without decisive or meaningful conservative action’.
Rush has not chosen sides in this current election cycle. Too many folks here on FR are too sensitive and see and hear conspiracies everywhere.
When we began the process of nominating a GOP standard bearer last summer, we had an embarrassment of riches. A stable full of qualified conservative prospects.
After the first debate, the circling squad began. We had TOO MANY candidates, and since so many were qualified, no one was willing to be humble enough to drop out.
With such a large chorus of voices, the only way to stand out was to be a bully, and yell and scream, and complain that the female moderator was menstruating.
And, because the conservative folks here on FR were legitimately angry and waiting for someone/anyone to hear us and to let off steam, the loudest voice in the room was hear and lionized. Donald Trump sucked all the air out of the room.
As a strategy it worked, but to be a POTUS, we need to have a candidate who shows decorum and maturity in policies, speech, and interpersonal relationships.
Mr. Trump, I beg you to try to be an adult and not a frat boy at the Playboy mansion.
Do forget to include Jeff Sessions when you are giving us your patronizing “Respectful Appeal.”
I don’t mind David and Rush thinking Trump is not the right candidate to be POTUS, but I can’t help thinking the Limbaugh brothers are jealous of Trump and have snobbish resentment toward him.
Rush is more polished than Trump, but has his own brand of bravado.
I love your article...it brings out so much of what has been ‘hidden’ from the American People for so long, and to think that people like the Limbaughs; Levin; Hannity; Beck; and all the others have been blowing smoke...lining their pockets with millions just like the lobbyists; super packs; special interest groups; Wall Street; GOPe; RNC; DNC and others, and what did we get? NOTHING!!!
NOT THIS TIME!!! WE WANT TRUMP!!! WE WANT TRUMP!!! WE WANT TRUMP!!!
They are tied corporately to the GOPe. I became quite apparent when Cruz started pulling his stunts and Rush ignored them.
I could not agree more. Ted Cruz 2016!
David Limbaugh is ONE FINE AMERICAN !!!!! I stand with him , if all fall off the edge!
