A few weeks after Senator Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 79% joined a bipartisan push for an immigration overhaul in 2013, he arrived alongside Senator Chuck Schumer at the executive dining room of News Corporations Manhattan headquarters for dinner.
Their mission was to persuade Rupert Murdoch, the owner of the media empire, and Roger Ailes, the chairman and chief executive of its Fox News division, to keep the networks on-air personalities from savaging the legislation and give it a fighting chance at survival.
Mr. Murdoch, an advocate of immigration reform, and Mr. Ailes, his top lieutenant and the most powerful man in conservative television, agreed at the Jan. 17, 2013, meeting to give the senators some breathing room.
But the media executives, highly attuned to the intensifying anger in the Republican grass roots, warned that the senators also needed to make their case to Rush Limbaugh, the king of conservative talk radio, who held enormous sway with the partys largely anti-immigrant base.
The dinner at News Corporation headquarters which has not been previously reported and the subsequent outreach to Mr. Limbaugh illustrate the degree to which Mr. Rubio served as the chief envoy to the conservative media for the group supporting the legislation. The bill would have provided a pathway to American citizenship for 11 million illegal immigrants along with measures to secure the borders and ensure that foreigners left the United States upon the expiration of their visas.

Well, this explains things.
I emailed Rush awhile back - asked him why he was saying NOTHING ABOUT THE CONNECTION BETWEEN MURDOCH AND HIS OPEN BORDERS LOBBY GROUP, the support of Rubio, and the connection between a Fox News VP and Rubio staffer.
I also remember him saying something about Kelly being “a long cool woman in a black dress” on the day the Vanity Fair had her on the cover. He sounded a little too cozy with her.
I concluded that he was in tight with Fox and didn’t want to expose Murdoch for that reason, but this is worse.
I hope Mr. Trump gets onto this and starts exposing Fox for the who they are - UNFAIR AND UNBALANCED. In the tank for Little Marco. Trump suggested he might not do the debate - here’s good reason to skip it and expose Fox at the same time.
Sad about Rush - I really enjoyed his show, and just signed up for 24/7!
What they were doing was showing an excerpt from the NYT article using that language.
Seems like Fox did a rat play on its viewers
That is along the lines of what I’m thinking. I have to do some digging of recent news. I am wondering who the source/s are for all these. The whole bloody GOPe machine has been laid bare as never before.
And yes, Trump is from New York..but Queens, not Wall st., etc.
Thanks go to Cruz for the amendment that prohibited the illegals from ever becoming citizens (Dem voters)! That amendment killed the Gang of 8 bill.
Yes don’t allow them to call you anti-immigration...
they call me anti-immigration and I’m an immigrant...
that there shows how ignorant and/or devious they are...
it is the illegal aliens and their enablers who are anti-immigration...
as an immigrant I am PRO-IMMIGRATION...
I just wish Trump would say illegal aliens sometimes instead of illegal immigrants...
FOX News is team Rubios media wing. It is 24/7 pro-Rubio and anti-others, especially Cruz.

Exactly what I’ve noticed over the past month or so! FNC has probably given Trump more free air time (O’Reilly, Hannity, F&F, etc.) than other candidates or other TV media. However, many of their programs have been pushing Rubio and it really chaps me!
Cruz started getting cozy with Marco lately...

What color is the sky on your planet?
Cruz is a conservative. Rubio is a left of center RINO (backed by folks like McCain, Graham, Flake, Schumer, Durbin, etc.) who is for sale.
See this story?
Rubik has been acting like a 12 yr old since the day before the last debate.

I’ve heard that certain drugs can result in erratic behavior.
Not Laura Ingraham, she did mention the other day that she would not be intimated into silence. Laura Ingraham is definitely on our side and a supporter of Trump and Cruz.
Limbaugh IS part of the Establishment... Hence, his love affair for Rubio and older loves Karl Rove and W. Bush.
They are ALL ESTABLISHMENT/GLOBALIST that is more comfortable with a Hillary Clinton Presidency than Trump.
Fox News has treated and is treating Cruz horribly. Not a drop of fairness and balance in them.

Agree, somewhat. However, Hannity had a good one-hour session with Cruz (I think on this past Thur.). He’s trying to do that with every GOP candidate. Even Megyn did a two-hour q&a with the candidates and gave each one 30 minutes (Trump skipped).
Rush is and has been for many many years GOPe. I am surprised at how many people are fooled by Rush. Rush even admitted it a few years back when he got pissed and said he was finished carrying the establishment water. Of course he calmed down and went right back to doing the bidding of the GOPe. The globalists allow Rush to pretend to be a conservative most of the time but when a big important issue comes along they will yank Rushs’ chain and Rush will do as he is told.
Split the GOP before the general, isolate Fox and Limbaugh from their audiences, create the impression NYT is more reliable source of info for Conservatives than their own media. So far so good.
No, Laura is solidly behind Trump and Cruz and argues against amnesty, bad trade deals nearly everyday. She often points out Rubio role in the gang of 8.
Absolutely. I’ve been turning off shows I’ve been watching for over a decade. The only watchable shows on Fox are Judge Jeanine and Lou Dobbs. I hope Fox pays a price for this. The latest is the GOP planning to put Romney in after Trump poured so much work and money into his campaign. Do they think they are going to thwart the will of the PEOPLE without a fight?
Only big question left- what does Drudge do with this story?
Good thing Cruz killed the bill!
