Just last week, a years-long tradition came to a screeching halt. "You want me to put it on Fox News," I asked my wife. "No," she replied. "I'm done with Fox News."
My job is to monitor the mainstream media, which is something that eats up about 14 hours of a day that begins at 6 a.m. when the cable morning shows begin. Lying next to me, my good sport of a wife suffers through about an hour of "Morning Joe," whatever they call that left-wing garbage fire on CNN, and the rest. Out of habit, before I head to my desk, without really asking I always ask, "You want me to put it on Fox?"
Fox News has a problem, and not just with my wife. According to a YouGov Brand Index survey, the perception of Fox News among Republicans has hit a three-year low, "has declined by approximately 50% since January of this year."
Basically, perception of Fox News has returned to those bad old Dick Morris days after President Obama won re-election. Much of the fall has come in the last few months. There is no question that this precipitous drop is the result of Fox's ongoing war with Donald Trump.
This might be a good time to tell you that my wife is not a Trump supporter. Her frustrations and disappointment in Fox News have nothing to do with her personal political preference. Like many, it is something much larger than that.

... Its not just the Trump effect. Cruz supporters are livid about Foxs mistreatment and ignoring of Ted Cruz too. I dont watch Fox anymore because of it.
Yep, I quit most of FNC in the spring when Cruz announced. No more news channels for me.
It should be the “Rubio Effect” or the “Anchor Baby Effect” because that is who they have been pimping since this party started.
The majority of people including me stopped watching most of their programming precisely because of the
RUBIO ANCHOR BABY EFFECT!!!

Fox has lost viewing time, respect and credibility in this household. BOR apparently loves Trump and then there’s Rove, Didn’t someone name a wine after him?
Thirty thousand people cut up their Macy’s credit cards when Macy’s went up against Trump’s criticisms of allowing unbridled illegal immigration via Mexico. Now Macy’s is closing 14 stores.
J C Penney’s went all in for gay marriage, featuring Ellen de Generes in ads and gay couples in its catalog and web site. Penneys closed 40 stores in 2015 and recently announced another 18 closings.
Businesses that offer services to the general public have every right to control the content of their offerings. I do not think, for instance, that bakers should have to bake the gay wedding cake. By the same token, they should be free from harassment for their point of view.
Therefore, the public should not harass companies that offend their points of view — because they are free to stop using those companies.
In the case of a television station, offending conservatives has apparently lost FoxNews 50% of their following. In the case of Macy’s and Penney’s, a somewhat smaller but still significant percentage. In the case of cake bakers, maybe less than 5% if the free market were allowed to operate in their cases, 5% is a tolerable risk (and that’s why unelected officials feel entitled to target them for destruction). For the stores and the television stations, one-third to one-half percent? Not so comfortable.
Gave up on Fox News over 5 years ago and never looked back, fair and balanced my @$$.
Actually, I don’t watch Fox anymore because I am sick to death of the hours of Trump infomercials. I really wonder how Fox gets away with it. They should have to declare it as a Trump campaign contribution! Not unlike Jim Robinson running a Trump campaign site. I think he calls it Free Republic.
It’s a wash. Viewers they lose on the right they will pick up on the left.
The obvious glee of the newspeeps on Fox on election night Nov ‘08 is why we dropped them in Jan of ‘09. Haven’t missed them yet.
Fox picks back up once we get into the general election.
Fox picks back up once we get into the general election.
Cool. Fox takes 50% hit just as Donald reaches 50% support nationwide. Couldn’t have written a better script.
