With Super Tuesday just one week away, Sen. Ted Cruz remains the favorite to win his home state, according to a new poll.
Cruz is polling well in Texas. A survey published Tuesday by the University of Texas/Texas Tribune says he is 8 points in front of rival Republican candidate Donald Trump, with 37 percent support to Trump’s 29 percent. Texas has the most delegates of any March 1 primary state.
They are trailed by Sen. Marco Rubio with 15 percent support, followed by Jeb Bush (who has now dropped out of the race) at 6 percent. Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) and Dr. Ben Carson trail the field with 5 and 4 percent respectively.
Tea Party supporters overwhelmingly favor Cruz, 56 percent to Trump’s 26 percent. Rubio, though he ran for the Senate as a Tea Party-backed candidate, only grabbed 8 percent of citizens who identified with the constitutional conservative group.
Trump struggled the most with younger voters, according to the poll. He secured only 10 percent support from voters aged 18-29. His best performing age bracket fell in the 45-64 range.
Rubio’s most favorable age group came from the 65+ bracket.
Cruz led all age groups, but performed best with voters aged 30-44.

Yes the dome (as in Metrodome) in Minneapolis collapsed not too long ago, so yes, I can see the truth in that.
Only 8 points in his home state?
Yeah I was watching that. CNN’s hypothetical had Cruz 60 to 40 over Trump in Texas, which is nowhere near what Cruz will get and Trump still crushed the nomination.
Latest poll and Bush is still in? Not so latest.

37 percent in his home state is just sad. Then again he hasn’t even bothered to serve a full term, Texas was just a quick stepping stone for Ted.
That’s a pathetic number from Ted. A sitting U.S. senator from Texas can only get 37% against a NY billionaire in his home state? Is Ted’s ceiling only 37%? This is an embarrassing number for Ted.
Nah, Trump will be too busy counting delegates won in both Texas (it’s proportional) and the rest of the state’s he will win.
Yeah, 155 would be a lot for Trump to overcome. He can do it, but it will be stressful (for me!)
Cruz may be up a few points in his hometown of Texas...but it will tighten after Trump wins Nevada by a large margin.
Trump has a legit chance at winning Texas. People like to vote for winners.

I would want Trump to spend time there just to make sure Cruz doesn’t get 50% or more!
I don’t know the state specifics to check your math - does the winner get a certain amount, like it was in SC? And is the cutoff 10 or 20% to get any delegates?
