With Jeb Bush out, Donald Trump has widened his lead in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Republican Voters finds Trump with 36% support, giving him a 15-point lead over Senator Marco Rubio who earns 21% of the vote. Senator Ted Cruz is in third place with 17%.
For Trump, that's a five-point gain in support from the beginning of this month just after the Iowa caucus and right before the New Hampshire primary when it was Trump 31%, Rubio 21% and Cruz 20% among likely GOP voters. Rubio's support has held steady, while support for Cruz has fallen slightly.
In mid-December, Trump led with 29% Republican support, with Cruz in second with 18% and Rubio at 15%.

Just for you cruzafixampee!
“It’s looking like President Trump folks.
This is great.”
I don’t want to get my hopes up too high, but my (very reliable) gut instinct is telling me that this man could very well prove to be one of the best presidents this country has ever seen.
I tell you, I haven’t been this hopeful in too long to remember.
“Cruz beats Trump by 15 points, head-to-head.”
So why didn’t Ted beat Trump in NH or SC? Why isn’t that 15% lead over Trump showing up in poll after poll after poll?
I swear, some folks will cling to the nuttiest stuff to verify their personal biases.
“What happens if Hillary wins the nomination, and the Bernie supporters stay home in November?”
The fix has always been in for Hillary to walk with the nomination. Sanders and his supporters are experiencing real Democrat politics up close and personal - many of them for the first time.
I’m already seeing the anger blow up among Bernie supporters, but I don’t think it will change a thing with the party’s road map. They’re going to expect their voters to shut up and vote in lockstep for the nominee anyway.
If you ask me, the DNC is fomenting revolution amongst those people, who I fully expect to switch to Trump in the general.
Head to head polling between Reagan and Carter at this time in 1980 showed Carter beating Reagan by 30%.
And Trump isn’t running against a sitting president.
General election match ups this far out are worthless.
Are you hearing yourself?
You sound like a snarling liberal, just rubbing your hands in glee over the harm the Dems might inflict on our nominee.
Turn in your Freeper card. You’ve gone to the dark side.
And then prosecute her and put her in JAIL! where she belongs, and her slimy rapist husband unit as well.
You KNOW the Establishment hates this...
Trump beats Cruz by 20 points in Nevada and South Carolina.
But people believe Cruz beats Trump by 15 points head to head?
I don’t think so. Not even close. I think if it was 1 on 1 the gap would be even wider.
Faithful, but demoralized Cruzers need something to cling to, no matter how illogical it is. You can't even reason with some them, they're so dug in.
Speaking of statistics and numbers, have you seen this?
Political science professor forecasts Trump as general election winner
I do think Trump is courting Dems who are tired of corrupt Dem machine politics.
The big question will be if Bernie has an explosion when the nomination is stolen from him, and endorses Trump.
Me Cruz?

I think you're replying to the wrong person. I never accused you of any of this.
