With Jeb Bush out, Donald Trump has widened his lead in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Republican Voters finds Trump with 36% support, giving him a 15-point lead over Senator Marco Rubio who earns 21% of the vote. Senator Ted Cruz is in third place with 17%.
For Trump, that's a five-point gain in support from the beginning of this month just after the Iowa caucus and right before the New Hampshire primary when it was Trump 31%, Rubio 21% and Cruz 20% among likely GOP voters. Rubio's support has held steady, while support for Cruz has fallen slightly.
In mid-December, Trump led with 29% Republican support, with Cruz in second with 18% and Rubio at 15%.

Looks like Cruz is going the way of Bush....time will tell. Yes, time will tell, but I think it's safe to say that, after coming in third place in South Carolina, he's on the ropes for the first time.

He does know his reality.

Robespierre, Napoleon, Hilter, Mussolini, Stalin, Obama ...
All Ego-maniac power hungry, deceptive, populist, lying (both sides of the argument) ... riding a wave of angry voters.
Is this America's Donald Trump in 2016 ?
As a FreeRepublic (Class of 1998) patriot, who's posted many times applauding Donald Trump's ideas and courage ...
I continue to be "incrementally" dismayed at Donald Trump's demeanor and apparent personal immaturity.
How about You ?
How are we supposed to support a candidate who has a "Howard Dean Moment" once a week ?
Will a Donald Trump "better deal at this time (2017-2018)" cancel-out "The Mexico Wall" ?
Frankly, it would be GREAT if Donald Trump could "morph" into the "more civilized" candidate that he's promised to at some point.
Finally, let's consider General George S. Patton Jr. for a moment.
Patton was a fierce warrior against the Nazis.
That was good.
Kinda like Donald Trump regarding The Mexico Wall, halting Islamic Visas temporarily, ending Sanctuary Cities, rebuilding the military, and several other points.
But General Patton voiced his genuine respect to German General Erin Rommel.
"Rommel, You magnificent bastard -- I read your book !"
Does Donald Trump ever do that ? "No" or very rarely.
No ... Donald Trump rarely behaves like Gen. George Washington.
Indeed ... Donald Trump perfectly mimics the "Do ANYTHING to ACHIEVE Power and Wealth" like the 1880 American "Robber Barrons".
Ouch !
Kinda like the GOPe "bastards" who screwed Chris McDaniels in Mississippi in 2014.
Kinda like Hitler's Nazi Brownshirts who viciously attacked ANY and ALL who dared voice ANY criticism or dissent against their DEAR LEADER.
It's estimated that almost four-million Conservative Americans REFUSED in 2012 to vote for Mitt Romney ... considering Mitt a galaxy-class @sss-hole.
I personally held my nose and voted for Romney anyway.
But 4,000,000 America Conservatives told Mitt Romneny to GO TO HELL.
Donald "Scorched Earth Victory at any Price" Trump risks the same fate.
The painful TRUTH is Donald Trump has become an @sshole.
Kinda like a nausetating version of New York's Chuck Schummer.
This is such a Shakespearean tragedy in light of Donald Trump's great ideas (see above list).
These words will "certainly" represent a moment of "cognitive dissonance" for many Donald Trump supporters at FreeRepublic.

Cruz is finished. He's not going to win the nomination. I agree that he's not going to win the nomination, but I think it's slightly premature to say he's finished. He'll certainly continue through Super Tuesday and will take stock from there. I'm a Trump guy and I hope Trump wins, but I don't want to get overconfident (although I feel very good at where Trump is now).

Possibly. If it is Trump v. Clinton it is going to be the political equivalent of Stalingrad. Watch the GOPe assist Hillary, if only by damning with faint praise, but I expect active and express undermining by some of the Geriatric Old Plotters. Should come as no suprise. See my research comment on one of the Jeb SuperPac Donor's, The Podesta Group.
It's all a single criminal enterprise selling us down river for decades.

I think some of them will. How many depends on how crassly Sanders is dealt out. With Hillary, all things crass just gout in abundance.
Young people statistically are the most easily discouraged and sullen voting block as well. The main fear, IMO, is the “friendly fire” Trump will experience. I think he will be able to make Hillary collapse, literally, on the campaign trail.

I imagine folks without landline phones are in the older category, so the polling skews toward Trump. And the unpolled, cell-phoned younger set, it is claimed, gravitate to Sanders. So it’s not such an important number for the primaries, but for the general election, where the voter turnout skews toward the older generation and the young ‘uns don’t bother to vote.

These words will "certainly" represent a moment of "cognitive dissonance" for many Donald Trump supporters at FreeRepublic. Cognitive dissonance are Freepers fighting for a doomed candidate who has called legalization of illegals part of "common sense" immigration reform. Cruz is toast. Move on with your life.

The betting line on the eventual GOP nominee is much closer.
At Betfair.com, the people who risk money on elections say:
Trump - 51.2%
Rubio - 42.9%
Kasich - 1.9%
Cruz - 1.9%

The Cruz team on FR can make a killing with those odds!
I suggested a similar bet back last fall.
Hopefully they jumped in.

I like Donald Trump *and* I like Ted Cruz. Either of them will easily be a far better POTUS than any of the Democrat choices.
During those months when they were courteous to each other, I was sooo hopeful for a unified team against Hillary C., Bernie S., Elizabeth W., and/or Joe B.

Itâs looking like President Trump folks.
This is great.
Fingers crossed and phones burning. Really good early voting here in Georgia for Trump if people are being honest. Atlanta is the Rubio stronghold and where the most votes are in the state.
