"We're not living in the Middle Ages," Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin said Friday as he called for national gun control legislation.
"My view on gun legislation is this: You will not solve this problem state by state. You need a 50-state solution, and we better come up with one fast," Shumlin said last week at Politico's Sixth Annual State Solutions Conference [1] at the Microsoft Innovation and Policy Center in Washington, D.C.
Shumlin pushed for a "50-state solution" despite coming from a rural state where guns are commonly used for hunting.

Governor, I suggest you come down here to my state and take my guns. You can even bring your security detail.
**You need a 50-state solution**
I agree. My CCP should be good in all 50 states.
Splendid!!! We already have one:
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
There ya go, guv'nor. All 20,000 of those infringements on the right to keep and bear arms are unconstitutional. Away with them. Problem solved.
That looks a lot like CCCP. Which is appropriate.
See my "50 State Solution" in #4 above.
Has Soros been stuffing pockets lately? It sure seems so. They are using very tactic to gun grab and we know why. They want it to be game over for America.
No thank you.
We do have a 50 state solution, it’s referred to as The 2nd amendment, read it sometime Gov.
I think he’s referring to the Second Amendment.
Already have it. It’s call the Second Amendment.
“”We’re not living in the Middle Ages,” Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin said Friday as he called for national gun control legislation.”
He needs to study his history. In the middle ages, it was illegal for commoners to own swords or armor. Illegal possession carried the death penalty. Swords and armor were the exclusive province of the nobles.
So in Shumlin’s “middle ages” model, Queen Feinstein would still get her carry permit and gun. King Barack would still have his retinue armed with automatic weapons. Sad for the commoners, though. Off with their heads!
Yeh Georgia needs to hear from VT on guns. Not.
Vermont should have stayed an independent asylum....nation, when it had the chance.
We're also not living in a nursery, where we're dependent children who need Nanny to "protect" us from all the boogeymen.
“We’re not living in the Middle Ages,” Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin ++++++++++
Tell that to ISIS in person, please.
Yeah, we’ll give you a 50 state solution, but it won’t be the one you’re looking for.
See my tag line.
Oh, yeah, we need a “50-state solution”, right Governor? Care to guess what that is? It’s so obvious.
1. Registration
2. Confiscation
3. Problem solved.
Actually, it would be something like this:
1. Registration (people ignore law).
2. Attempted confiscation (people resist with deadly force).
3. Civil war on politicans, media, and thugs trying to confiscate guns.
4. Problem solved when gun grabbers are eliminated (or taught a lesson they will never forget).
I don’t understand.
I thought Vermont had just about the fewest restrictions on guns in the country.
He should start by ordering all VT state employees are no longer allowed to carry guns while on duty. His state place detail can protect him with nightsticks.
Face it, the overwhelming majority of gun violence throughout history has been from armies in service of governments and not from private citizens exercising their right to self defense.
Obviously the new state motto of Vermont is “Live on Your Knees or Die.”
While the position may be uncomfortable, they are learning to love the taste.
