Trump Tells Ricketts Familty to Stop Spending Against Him .. Or Else
American Spectator ^ | February 22, 2016 | Emily Zanotti

...

[T]he Ricketts family, have come under fire from Donald Trump on Twitter, for their contributions to Our Principles PAC - a Team Romney-led effort designed to handicap Trump in primary states. Marlene Ricketts, wife of Joe Ricketts, founder of TD Ameritrade, has contributed around $3 million, so far, to help air ads attacking Trump in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. And Trump is none too happy about it.

"I hear the Rickets family, who own the Chicago Cubs, are secretly spending $'s against me," Trump tweeted. "They better be careful, they have a lot to hide!"

For starters, the money spending isn't exactly secret - it's available for Trump's viewing pleasure on Open Secrets, and in the Our Principles PAC SEC filings. It's also no secret that the Ricketts are conservative. Prior to financing the campaign to depose the self-proclaimed Republican frontrunner, the Ricketts financed Gov. Scott Walker's short-lived campaign, and have contributed to everyone from Texas Gov. Rick Perry, to Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, to Gov. Chris Christie, Sen. Lindsey Graham, and former Gov. Jeb Bush. They are one of the few large donor families making big spends against Trump this cycle - at least, so far. And while there isn't much data on whether the ads were successful, they appear to have at least gotten under Trump's skin (which is, admittedly, not that hard to do).

But what's really strange here is what Donald Trump is threatening to do should Ricketts resist his social media plea for satisfaction: according to Trump himself, the Ricketts family should prepare to be publicly smeared, all for the petty crime of being the political opposition. Donald Trump isn't owed a coronation, or the unqualified allegiance of the GOP's feudal lords.

People have a right to contribute to whomever they want. But the pattern, here, is so clearly anti, rather than really for anyone--I mean, really you cannot give to both Jeb Bush & Lindsey Graham, as well as a real Conservative like Ted Cruz, and pretend that you are merely acting on principle.

If someone spends millions of dollars, basically to oppose me, I will take notice of the fact. That does not mean that I do not recognize their right to spend their money in ways that they choose. But attacks have consequences. (And I do business with TD Ameritrade, and will probably continue to do so.)

Incidentally, I consider Trump far more Conservative--as a personality--than all of those the Ricketts have contributed to, with the exception of Ted Cruz, who is as Conservative as I am, and thus a tad more Conservative than Donald Trump. Trump, on the other hand, is far more conservatively oriented than the shallow analysts understand. Indeed, the point that is missed, is this:

Up until recently, Trump was focused on great building ventures. He was not focused on political ventures--and preoccupied with building, only casually observed the political drama, comedy or tragedy. The former comments that keep being thrown at him, were simply relative small talk, considering his non-focus on the subject matter.

Now what does a great builder do? He starts with a conceived foundation--based on experience--and step by step, drawing on the architectural experiences of the ages, he builds the subject of his focus. This is a very clear metaphor for the source of American Conservatism--the step by step construction of a political society, by the descendants of the original settlers, who we call the Founding Fathers.

Trump is not a Conservative. People are supporting him for the revenge factor. I'd rather restore the Republic.

I beg to differ. See my comment #181. Trump is a veritable metaphor for American Conservatism.

He is now in the wake up stage, where the natural Conservative first begins to really realize how far we have been betrayed by Leftist theorists and their supporters. He may be our best chance at restoring the Republic.

Robespierre, Napoleon, Hilter, Mussolini, Stalin, Obama ...

All Ego-maniac power hungry, deceptive, populist, lying (both sides of the argument) ... riding a wave of angry voters.

Is this America's Donald Trump in 2016 ?

As a FreeRepublic (Class of 1998) patriot, who's posted many times applauding Donald Trump's ideas and courage ...

I continue to be "incrementally" dismayed at Donald Trump's demeanor and apparent personal immaturity.

How about You ?

How are we supposed to support a candidate who has a "Howard Dean Moment" once a week ?

Will a Donald Trump "better deal at this time (2017-2018)" cancel-out "The Mexico Wall" ?

Frankly, it would be GREAT if Donald Trump could "morph" into the "more civilized" candidate that he's promised to at some point.

Finally, let's consider General George S. Patton Jr. for a moment.

Patton was a fierce warrior against the Nazis.

That was good.

Kinda like Donald Trump regarding The Mexico Wall, halting Islamic Visas temporarily, ending Sanctuary Cities, rebuilding the military, and several other points.

But General Patton voiced his genuine respect to German General Erin Rommel.

"Rommel, You magnificent bastard -- I read your book !"

Does Donald Trump ever do that ? "No" or very rarely.

No ... Donald Trump rarely behaves like Gen. George Washington.

Indeed ... Donald Trump perfectly mimics the "Do ANYTHING to ACHIEVE Power and Wealth" like the 1880 American "Robber Barrons".

Ouch !

Kinda like the GOPe "bastards" who screwed Chris McDaniels in Mississippi in 2014.

Kinda like Hitler's Nazi Brownshirts who viciously attacked ANY and ALL who dared voice ANY criticism or dissent against their DEAR LEADER.

It's estimated that almost four-million Conservative Americans REFUSED in 2012 to vote for Mitt Romney ... considering Mitt a galaxy-class @sss-hole.

I personally held my nose and voted for Romney anyway.

But 4,000,000 America Conservatives told Mitt Romneny to GO TO HELL.

Donald "Scorched Earth Victory at any Price" Trump risks the same fate.

The painful TRUTH is Donald Trump has become an @sshole.

Kinda like a nausetating version of New York's Chuck Schummer.

This is such a Shakespearean tragedy in light of Donald Trump's great ideas (see above list).

These words will "certainly" represent a moment of "cognitive dissonance" for many Donald Trump supporters at FreeRepublic.

Film at Eleven.

It’s one thing to defend yourself against attacks, but to threaten people those are the actions of a bully. Come on, open your eyes, a guy who sent money to the corrupt clintons who have made the republicans their enemies is no conservative. And for those who are for him because he’s for deporting millions of people, remember, he also later said he will bring back the good ones.

Trump is far from perfect and so am I. Glad that some believe they are or want their candidate to be perfect.
Trump is conservative enough for me on the issues that really matter. I will just have to deal with the rest.

rebutting someones charges and making his own is Trumps style

If they find it intimidating to be called out, then stay out of the fight

perhaps you prefer the dignified gentlemanly silence of the Bushes and Romneys as they were battered into the dirt by shrills, fronts, and scumbags

No one needs to feel intimidated by Trump if what they are saying about him is factual and they actually hold the moral high ground

Trump is no conservative. He's just a very good salesman, ask him. Conservatives don't tweet "I hear the Rickets family, who own the Chicago Cubs, are secretly spending $'s against me," Trump tweeted. "They better be careful, they have a lot to hide!" but NY thugs do.

When he tweets threats and wants to punch people and have his fans punch them? LOLOL!!

He's a liberal NY thug.

That was there. Was wondering when the threat to sue was coming.

Trump said they have "a lot to hide."

That means they may have already done something illegal that he is privy to.

He could be simply threatening to reveal what they've done.

There you go! When I googled it, I got alot more than just this original link, from an interview with Field and Stream. Now it has articles about Cruz promising to give the Nevada citizens their land back and blasting Trump saying he is wrong on this issue and now Trump is changing his position.

So you say! I can't wait to hear your fine whine when your leftist hero TRUMP!!! is taken out by the Arkansas Medusa who was a guest at his wedding and shares his actual views on social issues. Oh, the wailing and gnashing of teeth! Did you vote Moral Monster Mitt Romney last time? If so, why? If not, why not! Any old POS running on the Republican label will flip your switch apparently. Even when he is no better than Comrade Imam Obozo? I voted for neither and if disaster strikes and Mr. Bluster is nominated.

BTW, I will match resumes with you anytime. You first! Many here know mine and will keep me honest. I've never heard of you before you began your efforts for Mr. Bluster.

Ok, noob, not sure when this turned into a d!ck measuring contest, but I daresay it really isn't any of your business. Suffice it to say I've been around quite some time, and have plenty of experience when it comes to politics. You can trust when I say I know what I'm talking about.

You joined on 10/28/99. I joined on 1/6/01. That gives you a big 1 year and 40 days of seniority. If Free Republic were a unionized workplace for those who post here, that MIGHT be relevant. It is not and it is not. I'm a NOOB??? Really?

I can trust you because you assure me that I can trust you??? Oh my, you are full of yourself!

From the evidence of your posts as a political concubine of the obscene blowhard Manhattan Motormouth, Mr. Bluster, the question arises: Will I trust your self-serving, self-evaluation or will I believe the evidence witnessed by what you hallucinate to be my lying eyes? I'm going with the evidence. Objective over subjective any day of my life.

If you had anything to measure, you wouldn't be fleeing back behind the barn. You don't and that is why you are understandably uncomfortable choosing between dishonesty or being exposed as without substance. The only credential I am seeing is that you have been here since 10/28/99, although I must admit that I had never noticed you previously. I would certainly prefer not to notice you again, given what you imagine to be your capacity for thought and what you probably consider to be your blazing insights. In the absence of that resume as to which you are understandably and necessarily modest, fallen as I and every person is, I may occasionally fail in my determination to ignore you.

He will be every bit a bad as obamma. Ultimately, if elected he is likely to be impeached. Neither party establishment likes him. This is one time they might actually come together to impeach and remove. Typically politics is so equally divided that no president could be removed in this day and age.... except Trump.

Yes, that's what I said, but ultimately, I don't rightly care if you do or not.

If you had anything to measure, you wouldn't be fleeing back behind the barn.

On the contrary, I merely enjoy watching establishment jackboot lickers wet themselves. Moreover, I employ a simple concept of political warfare - a concept "Conservatives" have thus far been entirely unable to grasp - to great effect. That concept is: The defensive side is ALWAYS the side that loses. Right now, you are playing one helluva defensive game - you have been from the start of our conversation - but in the end, all you do is expose yourself for the whining, sniveling GOPe jackboot thug you are. All I need do is sit back and watch you implode. The fact that it happens over multiple responses makes it all the better.

The only credential I am seeing is that you have been here since 10/28/99.

Again, I'm not interested in a pissing contest. You might like that, but I am confident enough in my prior experience, education, etc. to say that I know what I'm talking about. If you base your opinion of me solely on the date I joined, you are missing quite a lot.

Aside from the fundraising I've done in the past, for FR and for my own candidacy for State office in 2000, I've contributed heavily in a wide range of ways to FR, and to my community, and to my Country over the last # of years. As I mentioned before, in the end, I don't care what some pissant GOPe boot licker thinks of me.

So go ahead, continue to whine and moan. It matters not to me. I find it kind of laughable, honestly. It just goes to expose even more of the GOPe hypocrisy. Way to go, champ!

Put down that mirror and back slowly away, mister. Who could imagine that Mr. Bluster, the Manhattan real estate billionaire could possibly be an Establishment kind of guy? Spent his entire adult life jumping from bed to bed, obsessing over what a materialistic hero he is by piling up money by buying political favors, builds ad runs country clubs and does not genuinely give a shit about anything but his portfolio and his power and distracting people with his next foul-mouthed tantrum.

You are welcome to him. If he keeps on winning delegates, then there will be a LOT better things for CONSERVATIVES to do rather than waste time on elections in 2016 since once again, they will make no difference.

I hope you stick around here so that, if this jerk is nominated and IF you are actually conservative, I will get to hear your whining when inevitably breaks your heart by losing or by being as POTUS what he has always been as a NYC media whore.

So you were a candidate for state office in 2000 but either the party or the voters rejected you. As to the rest of your purported "credentials" and what I have proposed is a "credentials" contest not a "pissing contest," if you had 'em, we'd be seeing the specifics not just a bunch of self-serving substance free editorials without evidence.
