Trump Tells Ricketts Familty to Stop Spending Against Him .. Or Else
American Spectator ^ | February 22, 2016 | Emily Zanotti

...

[T]he Ricketts family, have come under fire from Donald Trump on Twitter, for their contributions to Our Principles PAC - a Team Romney-led effort designed to handicap Trump in primary states. Marlene Ricketts, wife of Joe Ricketts, founder of TD Ameritrade, has contributed around $3 million, so far, to help air ads attacking Trump in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. And Trump is none too happy about it.

"I hear the Rickets family, who own the Chicago Cubs, are secretly spending $'s against me," Trump tweeted. "They better be careful, they have a lot to hide!"

For starters, the money spending isn't exactly secret - it's available for Trump's viewing pleasure on Open Secrets, and in the Our Principles PAC SEC filings. It's also no secret that the Ricketts are conservative. Prior to financing the campaign to depose the self-proclaimed Republican frontrunner, the Ricketts financed Gov. Scott Walker's short-lived campaign, and have contributed to everyone from Texas Gov. Rick Perry, to Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, to Gov. Chris Christie, Sen. Lindsey Graham, and former Gov. Jeb Bush. They are one of the few large donor families making big spends against Trump this cycle - at least, so far. And while there isn't much data on whether the ads were successful, they appear to have at least gotten under Trump's skin (which is, admittedly, not that hard to do).

But what's really strange here is what Donald Trump is threatening to do should Ricketts resist his social media plea for satisfaction: according to Trump himself, the Ricketts family should prepare to be publicly smeared, all for the petty crime of being the political opposition. Donald Trump isn't owed a coronation, or the unqualified allegiance of the GOP's feudal lords.

What kind of punishment to you envision for those opposing Trump?

Since so many of those who object Trump are of the criminal entitled class, I would assume jail time as he cleans up the DC sewer. As for situations such as the one being described, I can't help but wonder about the motives up deep pocket PAC donors who oppose Trump....what are they afraid of?

Maybe Mr. Bluster has already paid a substantial signing bonus to .... lure Lois Lerner out of retirement to be his button woman as IRS Commissioner.

We have wanted someone who would fight and fight for most of the principles we believe him. Now that we have someone so many are complaining because he is not their candidate or is not conservative enough on social issues.

If I can have security, both economic and physical, and most of my freedoms then I can deal with the social issues.

No one else with provide that in the campaign.

If you think Donnie is not beholden to anyone you aren’t living in reality. He has Millions in debt to many Wall Street Biggies.

He supported bailing them out once..... After all They ate his over leveraged Sub Prime loans.

Trump isn’t a Republican. And people have to decide if they want revenge, which in turn will bite THEM, or to restore our Republic. This is what this election is about.

Are you seriously saying that originally the media wasn’t part of the over-the-top attempts to stop Trump’s campaign? It seems more that after living with the candidates for so long, they’ve come to see that a Trump presidency may not be a negative.

Is that not what Trump has himself admitted doing by spreading his cash around to the many politicians he donated to?

When you are at the level of business Trump is, you learn to support every one. It's the only way you can operate and keep the Jekyll's off of your back.

Just ask Bill Gates, he learned the hard way.

he has spread his money around to further ‘his own interest’.

Wow, I never thought I'd see the day here on FR where one is held in contempt for pursuing their own self interest...it's call individualism. The fact that he has to spend money to keep politicians off his back should tell you how far this country has fallen....that used to be considered a form of fascism.

Has Trump not done so and become successful he could not do things like fly sick children to hospital when airlines refused to so.

Or do you prefer an altruistic society enforced by government?

Trump is not a Conservative. People are supporting him for the revenge factor. I'd rather restore the Republic.

It’s individualism when Trump does it. It’s crony capitalism for everyone else.

So you are recommending that Conservatives so wipe out TRUMP!!! that he will “never be a threat ever again.” Sounds like a plan! I like it!

Thursday night’s debate in Houston should be a hell of a show. I’m curious to see how Cruz, Rubio et al use the narcissistic tyrant’s words and threats against him. Expect Cruz the only real constitutional conservative to shine.

I hope that it’s not a giant slugfest. People need to hear issues addressed.
