Vanity: South Carolina Was Not "Tailor-Made" for Cruz - The Real Cruz Path to Victory
Vanity | 2/21/2016 | JediJones

Posted on 02/20/2016 10:25:38 PM PST by JediJones

Fox News has been spinning the false narrative that South Carolina was "tailor-made" for Ted Cruz and saying "if he can't win there, where else can he win?" This is a COMPLETELY MADE-UP FALSE NARRATIVE. It was never a favorable state for Cruz. It was a state where Santorum finished a distant third four years ago, behind more secular candidates Gingrich and Romney. While Cruz does have a real but mostly still untapped potential to appeal to secular voters, the Faux narrative that evangelicals made South Carolina a very favorable state for Cruz is JUST WRONG.

South Carolina went for the most "tough-talking" candidate last time with Gingrich and again this time with Trump. Establishment Romney came in 2nd last time just as Rubio did this time. The conservatives in this state seem to like aggression in a candidate above all else. There also appears to be a solid establishment streak in the state.

To put Trump's victory in perspective, he got a lower vote total in SC than Gingrich got and a much lower percentage. Cruz and Rubio both performed about as well as Romney and well above Santorum.

Cruz continues to have a path forward to victory because the other Southern states just don't have the same profile as South Carolina. Santorum won most of the other Southern states last time just like he won Iowa, despite getting trounced in South Carolina much worse than Cruz did. These upcoming states are therefore much more favorable ground for Cruz. If Cruz can win Santorum's states, he can perhaps gain the momentum to flip some other states Santorum lost (hopefully not wasting any more time in the Romney/Trump home field advantage northeastern states).

For now Cruz is stuck in the "social conservative" lane, a lane which NEVER included South Carolina as fertile ground. This is the lane he needs to perform well in as he works on broadening his base to include national security conservatives, economic conservatives and people who just have faith he can beat the Democrat.

Below is a list of all the states voting in March and how they would vote if they followed the basic pattern Romney and Santorum experienced. While I haven't tried to count all the delegates they will be handing out, I am seeing 13 Trump states and 16 Cruz states (plus maybe Puerto Rico for amnesty pimp Rubio). For us to see a clear winner in March, either Cruz or Trump will probably need to flip some of these states from their opponent's predicted column into theirs.

There are people who simply don’t like Trump on a personal level or don’t believe he’s truly flip-flopped on abortion or other issues. If abortion is your main issue, you’d probably be safer with Rubio than Trump.

I think I like Trump better than Rubio if I had to pick. He at least makes me laugh sometimes and probably won’t campaign in a wimpy fashion like Romney did. But this contest is not over and Cruz still has a potential path to win.

It is very hard for a rich nation to enter the kingdom. :)

Well, you win the prize for most ridiculous post of the day. No nation will enter into the kingdom, if you are referring to Heaven. It is all individual.

But, if you want to hear from Teddy's mouth, here is one of his claims:

"...The next president of the United States is going to be chosen by the most powerful force in all of politics: We the people, the grassroots," Cruz said. "And South Carolina is going to play such a pivotal role in the next three weeks. South Carolina's role historically has been choosing presidents, and South Carolina this year is going to ensure that the next Republican nominee and the next president of the United States is a true and proven conservative."- Ted Cruz

Some of Cruz's supporters will look to Rubio in the primaries if Cruz drops out...

That means that they were GOPe all the while...

Nope. Just means they'd rather have Rubio's demeanor in the White House than Trump's. Or they simply can't get beyond Trump's baggage/positions. They'd rather hold their noses and vote for Rubio. Or they just can't stand Trump after the vitriol of the primary process and are going to vote Anybody But Trump.

I don’t disagree, and the same holds true with Cruz. Some people simply do not like the man, do not believe he is sincere in what he states. That’s the beautiful part of this, we each get to decide for ourselves.

For me, illegals is my number one. If we end up with Rubio, we falter to the point of no return, imho. Of course, many believe we’ve passed the point of no return, yet I hold out hope, because I have to - believing it’s truly all over is more than I can comprehend at this point in my life.

In case you didn’t notice I did smile. I know very well that NO nation will be in the eternal kingdom. Same with gender.

If you want to talk theology, God doesn’t forgive a NATION for child sacrifice so y’all can vote for money and prosperity all you want but unless this nation gets down on its knees and bulldozes all those altars through eminent domain it’s all over anyway. Along with the rest of the world.

“However, the LORD did not turn from the fierceness of His great wrath with which His anger burned against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked Him. And the LORD said, “I will remove Judah also from My sight, as I have removed Israel. And I will cast off Jerusalem, this city which I have chosen, and the temple (house) of which I said, ‘My name shall be there.’”

“Surely at the command (mouth) of the LORD it came upon Judah, to remove them from His sight because of the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done, and also for the innocent blood which he shed, for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; AND THE LORD WOULD NOT FORGIVE.” (All caps mine) 2 Kings 23:26 & 27 and 24:3 & 4

This is a national judgment. The Manasseh had repented and been forgiven, but not the nation.

Good work, JediJones!

“..It was a state where Santorum finished a distant third four years ago, ..”

South Carolina has so many “Independents,” and many Independents seem to be liberal leaning, or libertarian. Cruz (and Santorum) are conservatives.

Furthermore, many Independents tend to be “Swing Voters.” and I feel that swing voters are uninformed, and even make up their minds in the voting booth.

It was reported that a large percentage of South Carolina voters made up their minds at the last minute (so to speak).

So no surprise here.

As a Ted Cruz supporter, that bothered me as soon as I heard it.

They must have marched off in the wrong direction, because they sure didn’t show up in South Carolina.

Where do you think they went? Prolly got lost.

I agree. How is Cruz going to do worse in Alabama or Idaho compared to South Carolina.

The only way he does worse is if Trump just wrecks the whole field .

If you want to talk theology, God doesn't forgive a NATION for child sacrifice so y'all can vote for money and prosperity all you want but unless this nation gets down on its knees and bulldozes all those altars through eminent domain it's all over anyway. Along with the rest of the world.

We could talk theology, but your post represents little of anything more than some ideas not covered in Scripture. the vague references you make are not representative of the New Testament economy.

God looks at individuals, as previously stated. You can cite all sorts of OT references but they do not represent the theme of forgiveness provided by faith in Jesus Christ. It is clear when we read "all have sinned' that we live as sinners.

All is not a nation, it is mankind individually. But the portion that comes next is that "all are justified", which does NOT mean all mankind, but refers to those people who have faith in the efficacious Work of Jesus Christ. Individually, and collective only in the sense that we all have that same opportunity (Romans ch. 3).

But, this a thread about Ted Cruz. He is not the messiah. He is not the one to lead us out of the wilderness. Maybe Donald Trump is being used by God. He used slavery in the land of Egypt to bring Moses to the mountain. God can use a burning bush or a donkey to speak to man. Donald certainly has lots to say, and people are listening.

God promised that there will be no more floods. Sodom has been destroyed Jonah spent time inside a whale, but he came through it to speak again!

America can once again be a shining light. Trump can do it if anybody can. If God chooses to bless America, we will see the results. If Trump is elected, personally I think it will be a sign from God and a repudiation of the lawyer/preacher guy. Jesus had a lot to say about those that want to stand in front of others and display their religiosity. They have their reward! But it isn't what God requires!

Donald Trump displays a lot of the things we are warned about. He is guilty. He is a sinner. But, I do not question his relationship with the Master Builder! That will come after we are all gone! The world will end some day, but it still has time... for individuals to find Christ as Savior!

I plan to vote for Trump!
